Autism Awareness Month

Autism Awareness TShirt BLUEPerry Local Schools and the District Autism Team invite you to celebrate Autism Awareness Month with us by wearing blue on April 22nd.  We have designed a shirt that draws attention and is sure to ignite conversation and therefore awareness!  The t-shirts are royal blue with white print just like the image you see.  Shirts are $10 and come in sizes YS-AXXXL. Proceeds will support Team initiatives which target the educational needs and general well-being of students with disabilities.  ACT SOON!  Community orders must be postmarked by April 3rd in order assure your order is here in time.  Orders received after the 8th will be returned. Anna Huntsman Wins Rotary Speech Contest

AnnaCongratulations to Perry High School Senior Anna Huntsman.  On March 18, Anna took first place honors at the Perry Township Rotary Club 4-Way Speech contest.  In addition to earning a spot at the Rotary’s regional contest, Anna took home a cash prize.  Fast forward to Saturday, March 21, and Anna was on point again–taking second place honors at the Rotary Club’s regional contest and earning another cash award.  Way to go, Anna! You make Perry proud.


Perry Pool to be Closed for Cleaning

Pool-Area-Closed-Sign-S-7098The Perry Pool will be closed for cleaning beginning March 29th 2015.  The pool will reopen April 6th, 2015.


Perry High School Marching Band Looking for Flag Line Members

perrybandAre all of your friends in the PHSMB and you are not? Want to come to all of the football games and be a part of the fun? Interested in performing with a state finalist marching band? Want to enjoy it all AND earn your PHS phys ed credit?

No previous experience needed…we will teach you! We welcome students currently in grades 8-11 to participate.


PHS Choirs Earn Superior Ratings

Congratulations to Perry High School’s four choirs going on to States! Kinsmen, Symphonic Choir, Lyrics and Treblemakers gave top performances Friday evening earning Superior ratings. They will advance to States, held at Jackson High School in April. Fantastic job by all our groups!


PHS Bands Earn Superior Ratings

Congratulations to the Perry Symphonic Winds and the Perry Concert Band for earning superior ratings at OMEA District Contest this past weekend.  Both bands received perfect scores of straight ones.  Symphonic Winds have now earned perfect scores for 3 consecutive years and this is the 5th year in a row that  both bands have qualified for State Contest!


Edison Blood Drive-Wednesday-March 18th-9:30am-1:30pm

lifeshare20220colorEdison Middle School is sponsoring a blood drive.If you would kindly help by donating not only will you help save lives, but our school will also receive a fundraising grant.  The Blood Drive will be open at Edison from 9:30am-1:30pm on March 18th. Please be sure to bring a photo ID. Thank you for your help!

Ohio Governor’s Youth Art State Qualifiers

The Ohio Governor’s State Art Competition is dedicated to the educational and artistic advancement of our talented young people in the state of Ohio. From the 12,000 regional entries, approximately 2,500 are selected to enter the state judging. State jurors then select 300 for the actual exhibition, with 25 of the 300 chosen to receive the Governor’s Award of Excellence. Scholarships are offered to seniors by over 30 universities and colleges of art.

PHS Speech and Debate 5th in State, Tessa Polen State Champ

IMG_4227Congratulations to the Perry Speech and Debate Team on their top five finish at the Ohio High School Speech League State Tournament at Boardman and Canfield High Schools this past weekend.  Perry earned fifth place honors overall, which was the best finish for any Stark County High School in the competition.  At this time, the team is pleased to announce that we brought home the State Champion in Prose/Poetry Reading.  Congratulations to senior, Tessa Polen, who was named champion in this event after two days and seven elimination rounds of competition!  Tessa rocked the field of over 70 competitors to be the last person standing at the awards ceremony on Saturday night!  Congratulations to state finalists Christian Lisik and Jenna Shinsky who took third place in Policy Debate, and Alexis Hendershot and Shannon Howley on taking fourth place honors, also in Policy Debate. Michael Eagon advanced to the final round of Student Congressional Debate.  State semi-finalists are: Leah Reese and Noah Ott (Duo); Clay Owens (International Extemp); Alexis Collins (Oratorical); Ethan Peterson (Dramatic Interp); Jade Gower (Prose/Poetry); and Jake Zartman (Student Congressional Debate).  Quarter-finalists are: Anna Huntsman (Original); Katy Krepp (USX) Hunter Wooldridge and Sean Elofskey (Duo), Troy  Kind (Prose/Poetry), and Macy Kittelberger (Expository).  Congratulations on a great season!  You make Perry proud!
