Perry Athletic Hall of Fame Activities for the 2019 Induction Ceremony

The Perry Athletic Hall of Fame, established in 2009 now has 94 members.  This year the hall will add ten more outstanding athletes to its membership. The celebration will start Friday Night September 13, 2019 before the Football game.  The Annual Don Dobina Golf Outing will take place Saturday September 14, 9:00 am at the Legends Of Massillon Golf Club. Saturday evening 5:30 we will gather at the Eagles on Monticello for the induction of the 2019 class.

  1. Jim Hambach-1970: Jim was a two year starter at offensive tackle and played defensive end and middle guard for the Panthers.  Jim was All- Federal League and All-Stark County in 1969 as a member of the school’s first undefeated season. He dominated both sides of the ball,  created holes for the offense and stuffed the opponents in their own backfield.
  2. Steve Meredith-1971: Steve was the Quarterback for the football team, Point Guard for the basketball team that won Perry’s first Sectional title, and played third base for the baseball team.  He held records for highest completion percentage as a QB and held the record for average punting distance for 30 years. Steve also spent 35 years coaching football, basketball and tennis.He influenced thousands of Perry athletes in the “hood.”
  3. Dalon Myricks-1978:  Dalon Earned three letters in Football, Basketball and Track. He was the Football MVP in 1977.  He won the Tony Pecko Award in Basketball and won several academic team awards. He was All-Federal League and All- Stark County in Football.  Dalon was one of the most versatile and and successful athletes to play for Perry.
  4. Matt Campbell-1998- Matt had a fantastic Senior year in Football.  He was All-Federal League, All Stark County, All-Northeast district and First team All-Ohio. He played in the Big 33 game and the North/South All-Star game.  He was a starter on the Basketball team also. Matt was an All-American and National Champion at Mount Union College. He is now the Head Football Coach at Iowa State University.
  5. Courtney Ingersoll-2008: She was a four year starter on the Basketball team.  Courtney was a two time All Federal League and All-Stark County performer. She shot 42.6% percent from the three point line and 49.1 percent overall.  At the University of Toledo Courtney earned four letters and led the NCAA in 3pt field goal percentage her senior year.
  6. Julianne Lloyd-1984:  Julie was a sprinter and hurdler who flew into the record books. She is one of the fastest women in the school’s history, setting records in both the 200 meters and the 100 meter hurdles. Julie was the MVP three years in a row and qualified to the state meet in three events.  She was the Federal League and District Champ in the hurdles her Junior and Senior years.
  7. Tyler Light-2009:  Tyler is often considered “Mr. Golf” at Perry. He was three times the player of the year in the Federal League.  He was also named Stark County golfer of the year three times. He won numerous district and regional Championships.  He qualified for the state three times. After an outstanding career at Malone college, he has been playing professionally for the past five years.
  8. Bryan Farson-1991: Bryan dominated baseball games from the mound for three years as a  Panther starter. He was All-Federal League, All-Stark County, all Northeast District and All- Ohio.  Bryan had a powerful fastball and a magnificent curve. He used these pitches at Kent State where he had a 1.77 ERA his senior year. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
  9. Marlene Mason-1969: Marlene is our 2019 Community Person of the Year.  Marlene founded Aunt Susie’s Cancer Wellness Center in honor of her friend and classmate Susan Nixon Darling in 2012.  Her center has helped countless women and their families cope with many forms of Cancer. The Center provides, counseling, transportation, clothing, and empathy for women dealing with cancer. The organization is 100% volunteer.  Marlene is an amazing woman who gives of herself to provide ways to ease the pains accompanying Cancer.
  10. Megan Weaver– 2009:  Megan was one of the best golfers in the annals of Perry golf.  She was three times All-federal League, and three times All-Stark County, Megan was 1st team All-Northeast District and the Player of the year in the Federal league twice.  Megan was also the medalist in the Flo Barr Invitational in 2008.
  11. Nick Heflin-2009:  Nick was 4 times all Federal League and 4 times All- Stark County. In a program of great wrestlers Nick was one of the finest. In 2008 he was runner-up at the Ohio wrestling tournament and was State Champion in 2009.  He was an All- American for Ohio State and came fractions of a second from being national Champ. Nick now has dual responsibilities coaching at Oklahoma and wrestling for the USA National Team.
