Perry Football Beats Tri Valley 40-14

Last Friday night, the Panther football team traveled to Dover Crater Stadium to take on the Dresden Tri Valley Scotties in Round 2 of the OHSAA Playoffs.  The Panthers came away with a 40-14 playoff victory. Once again, senior standout running back and candidate for Mr. Football, Keishaun Sims, had a great game running the football.  Sims rushed 31 times for 349 yards and four touchdowns. The offensive line of Adam Gregoire, Matt Carrick, Evan Douglass, Mason Wheeler, Dom Labriola, and tight end Connor Watson controlled the line of scrimmage all night by opening up holes for Sims and Tevion Cleveland as the team rushed for 485 total yards.  Perry did not throw a pass for the entire game. Tevion Cleveland and Karson Vinas also scored touchdowns. Defensively, the hard-hitting Panther defense was stout in holding Tri Valley to many three and outs all night.  

During this playoff run, the Panthers have outscored their competition 75-14.  Round three of the OHSAA playoffs will be held Friday, November 20th at Mount Vernon Yellow Jacket Stadium.  The team will play the Worthington Kilbourne Wolves for the Regional Championship.  The game will kick-off at 7:30.  Tickets are available in the Athletic Ticket Office.

Perry Football Nominated for Team of the Week

JJH_award_header_emailThe Perry Football team has been nominated for the Ohio National Guard JJHuddle Ohio High School Football Team of the Week Award.  The team has won five straight games and is playing for the Regional Championship for the first time since 2000.  During the win streak, the team has outscored opponents 180-28.

These weekly awards are decided by fan vote and will conclude at noon on Monday, November 23rd. You may vote as often as you like. Click here to vote.

Division 2 Regional Final Information: Perry vs Worthington Kilbourne

The Perry Panther football team will play a Division 2 Regional Final versus Worthington Kilbourne at Mount Vernon High School (map) on Friday, November 20th. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM with gates opening at 6:00 PM. Presale tickets will be sold at the PHS Athletic ticket office for $8 beginning on Tuesday (11/17) through  Thursday (11/19) from 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM and on Friday (11/20) from 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM. Students can purchase tickets at any time in the athletic office during school hours. Student tickets will also be on sale in the cafeteria beginning at 7:00 AM on Thursday (11/19) and Friday (11/20) morning. Tickets at the gate are $9. There will be a $2 charge for parking.

Perry Football’s Keishaun Sims Nominated for Award


Keishaun Sims has been nominated for the Ohio National Guard JJHuddle Ohio High School Football Athlete of the Week Award. Keishaun’s 268 yards rushing and 5 touchdown performance in the Panther’s playoff win against the Mansfield Tygers secured this week’s nomination. Sims has rushed for 2,462 yards on the season which is a new Stark County record.

November 9th Panther Scoreboard – Football Playoff Edition

Last Friday night, the Panthers hosted the Mansfield Senior Tygers for a first round OHSAA Football playoff game.  The Panthers came out firing on all cylinders to a 35-0 victory.  This is the first playoff win for the Panthers since 2002. The ground game was in full effect behind senior running back Keishaun Sims.  Sims had 268 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns to lead the way.  To add to his list of records, Sims is now the single season Stark County rushing record holder with 2,462 yards.  He also holds the record for the most career touchdowns scored for Perry.  The offensive line of  Adam Gregoire, Matt Carrick, Evan Douglass, Mason Wheeler and Dominick Labriola controlled the line of scrimmage all evening.  The tough Panther defense also kept Mansfield off the scoreboard by recording their third shutout in the last four games.

Round two of the OHSAA playoffs will be held Friday night, November 13th at Crater Stadium in Dover.  The Panthers will play the Tri Valley Scotties from Dresden.  The game will kick-off at 7:30pm.  Tickets will be available on Tuesday, November 10th in the Athletic Ticket Office.

Perry Rotary Basketball Preview – Friday, November 20th

Pfeiffer Perry Rotary Basketball preview will be held at Perry High School  on Friday, November 20th at 6:00 PM.  Tickets will be sold at the door, $6 for adults and $5 for students. Children 5 and under are free. Money raised helps provide scholarships for student athletes participating in the event.  The schedule for the evening is: (more…)
