Perry Football’s Keishaun Sims Nominated for Award

Keishaun Sims has been nominated for the Ohio National Guard JJHuddle Ohio High School Football Athlete of the Week Award. Keishaun’s 268 yards rushing and 5 touchdown performance in the Panther’s playoff win against the Mansfield Tygers secured this week’s nomination. Sims has rushed for 2,462 yards on the season which is a new Stark County record.

These weekly awards are decided by fan vote and will conclude at noon on Monday, November 16th. You may vote as often as you like. Click here to vote.

November 9th Panther Scoreboard – Football Playoff Edition

Last Friday night, the Panthers hosted the Mansfield Senior Tygers for a first round OHSAA Football playoff game.  The Panthers came out firing on all cylinders to a 35-0 victory.  This is the first playoff win for the Panthers since 2002. The ground game was in full effect behind senior running back Keishaun Sims.  Sims had 268 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns to lead the way.  To add to his list of records, Sims is now the single season Stark County rushing record holder with 2,462 yards.  He also holds the record for the most career touchdowns scored for Perry.  The offensive line of  Adam Gregoire, Matt Carrick, Evan Douglass, Mason Wheeler and Dominick Labriola controlled the line of scrimmage all evening.  The tough Panther defense also kept Mansfield off the scoreboard by recording their third shutout in the last four games.

Round two of the OHSAA playoffs will be held Friday night, November 13th at Crater Stadium in Dover.  The Panthers will play the Tri Valley Scotties from Dresden.  The game will kick-off at 7:30pm.  Tickets will be available on Tuesday, November 10th in the Athletic Ticket Office.

Perry Rotary Basketball Preview – Friday, November 20th

Pfeiffer Perry Rotary Basketball preview will be held at Perry High School  on Friday, November 20th at 6:00 PM.  Tickets will be sold at the door, $6 for adults and $5 for students. Children 5 and under are free. Money raised helps provide scholarships for student athletes participating in the event.  The schedule for the evening is: (more…)

Panthers to Open Playoffs Versus Mansfield

The Perry Panther football team will make their second consecutive appearance in the state playoffs this Friday, November 6th versus the Mansfield Tygers. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM at Perry Stadium. Presale tickets will be sold at the PHS Athletic ticket office for $8 on Wednesday (11/4) and Thursday (11/5) from 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM and on Friday (11/6) from 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM. Tickets at the gate are $9. There will be a $2 charge for parking.

  • Boys Cross Country – 12th out of 16 teams at the Regional Championship (Cole Morris lead the team with a 20th place finish and just missed out of qualifying to the State Championship by 4 places), Overall Record 124-41, League Record 4-2
  • Girls Cross Country  11th out of 16 teams at the Regional Championship (Maddy Bartolone lead the team with a 35th place finish), Overall Record 86-49, League Record 5-1
  • Football – GlenOak W 29-14 (Keishaun Sims rushed for 253 yards and had 4 touchdowns along with an interception, Mason Brown also tied the school record for the longest field goal at 42 yards set by Ben Karam), Federal League Champions, Team hosts Mansfield Friday for round 1 of the playoffs, Overall Record 8-2, League Record 5-1

Midnight Madness 2015 – November 14th @ 5 PM

Kick off  the 2015-2016 basketball season by attending the second annual Midnight Madness on Saturday, November 14th at Perry High School’s gymnasium. Doors open at 5:00 PM. Join Perry’s varsity coaches, Jeff Couto and Mark Randulic, as they introduce both girls and boys teams 7th grade through varsity.  In addition to meeting the 2015-2016 Panthers and Perry Youth Leagues, come for the games, contests, raffles, trivia, prizes, concessions and more. Canned food donations will be accepted at the door to support Perry Helping Perry.
