The girls 4×400 team of Charliee Strickland, Jackie Genetin, Mikayla Dearing, and Hannah Luke won the state championship in a new school and Stark County record of 3:48.59. Charliee once again started off strong giving the baton to Jackie in good position as she ran a great 2nd leg to hand off to Mikayla in 2nd place. By the time Mikayla handed off to Hannah with a 10-15 meter lead it was just a matter of time until Hannah would cross the finish line and clinch the state championship for the girls. Not only did the girls win, they won in dominating fashion as they finished over 3 seconds ahead of 2nd place Troy (3:51.67). Hannah also earned All-Ohio status with a 4th place 200m dash (24.87 into wind) and 7th place 100m dash (12.44 into the wind). The same girls just missed All-Ohio with a 9th place finish in the 4×200 (1:43.04). Andrew Vincent finished 16th in the pole vault clearing 13 feet.
The girls 4×400 State Championship is the 2nd event championship in school history joining Zakiya Harris from 2000 when she won the long jump. This caps in incredible season for the relay team as they won every dual meet, every invitational, Stark County, Federal League, District, Regional, and State. Mikayla Dearing and Jackie Genetin both capped off outstanding Perry Track careers. Mikayla will continue her track career at Walsh University and Jackie will be running cross country and track at Ashland University.
