Perry Junior High Wrestling

The Perry High School Wrestling Team is one of the top wrestling teams in the State of Ohio, as well as a well respected program nation-wide. This year’s Perry Junior High Team is quietly following in their footsteps.
The team consists of 7th and 8th graders from Pfeiffer Middle School and Edison Junior High. They opened the season with a win at the 16 team Northwest Invitational and have continued to wrestle at a high level ever since.
At Northwest they won by scoring 348 points, finishing ahead of Wadsworth’s 300. They had six 1st place finishers and had three runner ups.
At the North Canton Tournament, they finished in 1st place again with 289 points to finish ahead of Claymont with 242 points. Five Perry wrestlers took 1st place and eight took second. Two wrestlers took 3rd place.
The Perry team finished first at the Federal League Duals Tournament by winning all four of its matches. Their wins were against an unattached team of extra wrestlers from several teams, as well as wins against Oakwood, Hoover, and Lake. The Lake match in the finals came down to the last several matches and Perry met the challenge winning 48-39.
Come see the team in action as they host Jackson on Tuesday, January 19th, at Pfeiffer Middle School’s gym at 5pm.
