Head Girls' Basketball Coach Announced
On April 27th, at the next regularly scheduled meeting, Perry Local Schools Superintendent Dr. John Richard will recommend that the Board of Education approve a contract for Abbey Moore Allerding as the Head Girls’ Basketball coach, as well as teaching Language Arts for the school district.
Abbey returns to Stark County, having taught in the Mount Vernon City Schools since 2007. She was a co-captain of the North Canton Hoover state championship basketball team in 2002, and received all Ohio Division I second team honors. Abbey has been a graduate assistant varsity basketball coach at Malone University, as well as a volunteer with the Hoover summer league as a basketball coach with their girls’ varsity squad.
A hiring committee was formed to determine the type of person the district was looking for to fill the role of head coach. Through that process, Abbey rose to the top with her enthusiastic passion, knowledge of the game, and relationships with student athletes. Dr. Richard states that “Abbey is intense in a very positive way from the moment you meet her, and the committee unanimously believes that she will be great for our program, and great for the young ladies involved. We are absolutely thrilled to have someone of her character and caliber take over the reigns of our girls’ basketball program. We look forward to her donning the black and white colors of Perry!”
Abbey is a graduate of Malone University in 2007, and is currently completing a Master’s degree at Ashland University in creative writing.
