Congratulations to Aleah Mesaros who recently was awarded with the Hugh O’brian Youth Leadership Award.  Administrators, teachers, and counselors nominate qualified students for this prestigious award. Perry High School staff evaluate nominee essays. Aleah will represent Perry by attending a regional leadership conference. Past Perry winners were Alexis Sommer and Leah Reese.

Congratulations to Perry High School students Karlee Pireu and Tevion Cleveland for being honored with the Rotary Youth Leadership Award. These two students will represent Perry High School at a leadership conference in February. The two juniors were selected on behalf of the Perry Township Rotary. Past winners of this award are Amelia Duplain and Logan Copeland.

Genoa Raffling Off Quilt for Cosi on Wheels Visit

Black and White QuiltGenoa Elementary is holding a quilt raffle to bring Cosi on Wheels to their students this spring. Two different twin size quilts are being raffled off. The t-shirt quilts are the perfect size to take to outdoor sporting events, or for wrapping up in at home. Past, present and future Panthers will love these quilts. (more…)

Panther Football Best Season Ever

ChampionshipThe Perry football team lost to Cincinnati La Salle in the OHSAA Division II State Championship on Friday, December 4th.  Keishaun Sims led the team with 117 yards rushing and finished the season with 3,225 yards which is the 6th most in state history. Dominick Bowman and Tevion Cleveland each had interceptions for the Panthers.  Keishaun also earned Ohio’s Mr. Football by the Associated Press for the 2015 season.  The State Runner-up finish was the best for Perry football in school history.

Community Pep Rally – Thursday, December 3rd @ 6 PM

IMG_2218On the eve of playing in their first ever state finals for football, the Perry community is ramping up the excitement with a community-wide pep rally to be held Thursday, December 3rd at 6 PM.  The rally will take place in the main gym at Perry High School.  Join us as we wish good luck to our football team as they travel down to Columbus to play in the D2 State Championship game against Cincinnati LaSalle Friday night. Doors will open at 5 PM and the pep rally will start at 6 PM.  The football stadium will be open with the lights on beforehand to take pictures or toss a football around.  Once inside, there will be face painting, the band and cheerleaders will be present, game tickets and shirts will be available for purchase, and 2,000 free rally towels will be given away.   WHBC radio personality Kenny Roda will be the pep rally host.  Players and coaches will be available for pictures and autographs after the pep rally.

Sharon Budd Fundraiser – December 9, 2015

Wendy’s in Perry Township (5017 West Tuscarawas Street) is sponsoring a community fundraiser event from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM on Wednesday, December 9th, with proceeds going to the Sharon Budd family.  The event is a Star Wars themed event with a bake sale, gift basket raffle and free pictures with Star Wars characters.
