Edison’s Power of the Pen Team Compete in Write It! Competition
A huge congratulations go out to the members of the Edison Power of the Pen team who traveled to Mt. Union on Saturday, February 24, 2018, to compete in the Write It! Competition. Power of the Pen is an organization that emphasizes creative writing as a means of self-expression. Students involved participate in five weeks of mini-lessons and writing sessions. Each session begins with a “cold prompt,” and students must respond to this prompt with a complete story–plot, conflict, characters, theme–written in exactly 40 minutes. This is no easy task!
Edison’s writers took home many awards, including:
1st Place Team Overall-7th Grade
7th Grade Individual Winners
- 1st place champion writer—Owen Rair
- 3rd place—Abbie Friedrichsen
- 9th place—Katelyn Strong
- 11th place—Samantha Jordan
- 12th place—Owen Schwartz
8th Grade Individual Winners
