Safety and Security at Perry Local Schools

Parents and Guardians,
The Perry Local School District would like to take this time to thank our parents and community members for working with the district to keep our students and staff safe. Your continued partnership and support makes all the difference!

As you know, this has been a trying time for school districts across our county, state and nation. We wanted to provide you with a brief reminder of the safety and security protocols that the Perry Local School District has in place, including the following:

 An increased police presence in addition to the regular School Resource Officer
 All doors are locked-visitors must buzz in and show identification
 Emergency plans updated/certified annually
 All staff are ALICE trained, which includes practicing various scenarios
 Cameras inside and outside of our schools
 Two-way radios to contact police or other buildings
 Cameras placed on all buses
 An increased clinical counselor presence at all buildings, as well as the availability of additional
retired school counselors

A Safety and Security Task Force has also been formed to address school safety and determine both short and long-term measures that should be implemented in schools within Stark County. The task force has put together a report based on their discussion. The report can be found at then click on Stark County Schools Safety and Security Task Force Report.

Along with the report, the website includes useful resources addressing important topics. These resources include information from The National Association of School Psychologists on how to talk to children about violence, as well as information from StarkMHAR that provides youth and young adult resources addressing mental health, alcohol and drug use.

The students need our collective support now more than ever. We are sincerely appreciative of the many individuals and groups that have reached out during these past few months to offer resources, support, prayers and kindness. We at the Perry Local Schools Thank You for your continued support of our students, parents, staff and district.
