Perry Students Participate in Panorama Survey

Posted On May 14, 2019 @ 7:59 am

Perry Pride 200 [1]Perry Local School District participated in the Panorama Student Survey from Monday, April 29 through Friday, May 10. This survey took place at all buildings and reached students in grades 3-12. The Panorama survey is designed to support student success by providing data that can monitor the social and emotional well-being of the district, school buildings and students. This information will be used to set culture goals at the district and building levels, tailor lessons on social and emotional health and monitor the growth of students. Through the generous donation made by David and Dr. Alise Bartley, the costs for the survey for the 2019-2020 school year has been covered. The couple is highly invested in the community and pleased to support student well-being.
The surveys cover 23 possible topic areas, allowing individual districts to customize the survey for the best of their environment. Perry Local Schools picked five different areas of focus
including Grit, Student-Teacher Relationships, Self-Management, Social Awareness and Emotion Regulation. The survey was developed by researchers at Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2014 as
an innovative tool that measures student perceptions of teaching and learning. The overall approach follows the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) model.
CASEL strives to bring evidence-based social and emotional learning to schools. Perry Local Schools is implementing this method with hopes to ultimately improve services for students.
“This survey is part of Perry’s proactive approach to supporting its students in all areas of their lives,” said Superintendent Scott Beatty. “It is our goal to help teachers learn more about the
students they serve so they can assist them socially, emotionally and academically. We are excited about this process and the benefits these insights will bring to our students.“
During this process Perry Local will be working with Dr. Jason McGlothin, a licensed professional clinical counselor and mental health specialist from Kent State University, as the district begins
to gather the data and determine how best to serve Perry students.
