PHS Thanksgiving Break Update

Dear Perry High School Families,
As stated earlier this week, we are committed to informing you of any developments that impact our school and those we serve. We continue to see a low infection rate however the quarantining, along with additional absences have created a student attendance issue at Perry High School. We are nearing 50% absenteeism in the building. ***Knowing these numbers are not likely to improve by next week, we will be extending fall break for students at Perry High School to include Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday November 24th.*** There will be no academic instruction for students either of these days. Students should use the time to catch up on any schoolwork and in these difficult times find a way to support a neighbor or loved one. Extra-curricular activities will continue. Again, this fall break extension is due to attendance numbers. Staff will report to school to prepare for remote instruction in the event these attendance numbers continue after the Thanksgiving break. As a reminder for all, as the holiday season approaches, we still have to make sure we are following the appropriate guidelines in order to keep our schools open. This means wearing a mask, washing your hands, practicing social distancing and staying home when sick. It is up to all of us during the holiday break to continue to keep each other safe to slow the spread of this disease. As we move into the holiday season, we will continue to provide health updates to our families as they become available. As we have communicated since the beginning of this pandemic, our plans remain fluid as things evolve. Please be patient as we navigate through everything.
Sincerely,
Scott Beatty
