Head gymnastics coach Shera Kile named Sectional Coach of the Year

At the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Sectional Gymnastics Tournament, Saturday, February 20th, Shera Kile was named Sectional Coach of the Year for the 2009-2010 season. The award was voted on by the other 17 head coaches present at Saturday’s competition. It is quite an honor. At the event, the team placed 7th out of 18 teams. The gymnastics team finished the regular season with a record of 8 and 2. This season’s final meet is Tuesday, February 23rd. The Winter Classic meet is at 5PM at the Massillon Armory.

Swimming and Diving District Meet Results

At the swimming and diving district meet this weekend at Cleveland State, Seth Brandenberg and Joe Cooper both qualified for state in diving.  Lepear Smith and Kyle Riordan both qualified in two events for the state meet. Congratulations to the girls district team consisting of Hailey Floom, Aex Hamit, Emily Kile and Emily Marino and to the boys district team also consisting of Tyler Lunsford, Matthew Thiessen, Grant Gillilan and Ryan Allen.
Best of luck to Seth and Joe who will be diving on Wednesday and Lepear and Kyle who will be swimming on Friday. 

Meet Coach Boedicker

Perry's Sectional Swimming Champions

Seth Brandenburg in the diving, Kyle Riordan in the 200 freestyle and LePear Smith in the 100 breaststroke. LePear’s winning effort in the breaststroke of 1:01.53 also broke the Perry HS record set in the 83-84 season by Bob Heavlin at 1:02.90. Additional District Qualifiers include: Hailey Floom, Alex Hamit, Emily Kile, Emily Marino, Ryan Allen, Joe Cooper, Grant Gillilan, Tyler Lunsford, and Matt Thiessen.

Bowlings Grab Federal League Championship

The Perry Panthers Boys Varsity Bowling team won the Federal League Championship for the first time and the Federal League Tournament today at Park Centre Lanes!

Freshman Girls Basketball – Federal League Champs

Perry’s Freshman Girls Basketball Team earned the Federal League Champion Title Saturday February 13, 2010 after a hard fought battle against the Jackson Polar Bears. The final score of the championship game was 35 to 28. The Panthers, led by Coach Mike White and his assistant Vicky Walker, started the season with two loses. But, with hard work, determination, and commitment to succeed the freshman went on a 15 game winning streak ending the season with a record of 15-2. A special congratulations goes out to Cataya, Becca, Allison, Kayla, Tianna, Taylor, Bri, Marwah, Kelly, Marissa, Olivia and the freshman coaches. You make Perry proud!

Capuano Signs With Wright State

Congratulations Angelo Capuano! Angelo signed a National Letter of Intent Wednesday, February 3rd, to play soccer for Wright State University, a Division I program in Fairborn, Ohio. He is a senior at PHS and the son of Melanie and Richard Capuano of Massillon, Ohio.

Charlie Steiner Sets New Record

Congratulations to Junior, Charlie Steiner, who set a new indoor track pole vault record this past Saturday at Kent State University.  In the meet, Charlie placed 2nd overall and cleared a new personal best height of 14’0″.
