front 19graphite (1)Perry High School’s (PHS) Speak Life Resiliency Run Team will be presented with the Youth in Philanthropy Award, sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, at a luncheon on Nov. 1, 2019. Bryan Winslow, Leah Moore, Peter Smith, Alyssa McGraw, Emma George, a group of Perry High School students, and Principal Dave Riley planned the Speak Life Resilience Run to commemorate the Perry School District’s students who died last year and to raise awareness about suicide prevention programs that can support families and students through times of difficulty. The race was held May 4 at Perry High School with all proceeds benefitting Akron Children’s Hospital and Coleman Professional Services. “As a collective group, we are grateful to have been able to put on an event that raised money to support local charities who are given with the task to support families and those who struggle with mental illnesses,” said the Speak Life Team. “We didn’t look for this recognition and are certainly very humbled to have received the Community HOP Award from StarkMHAR and now this regional award through the AFP of Northeast Ohio Program.” (more…)
