The Boys and Girls Track Teams made a superior showing at Hoover last night at the District Championship preliminaries. The boys are leading the meet going into the finals on Friday. Qualifying to the Regional Championship are, Charlie Steiner – 1st in Pole Vault, Doug Mayes – 3rd in discus, Angelo Capuano – 4th in long jump, the boys 4×800 team of Chase Daniels, Drew Tormasi, Justin Eddy, and Aaron white – 3rd, and the girls 4×800 team of Hailey Floom, Stacy Cameron, Mikayla Dearing, and Jackie Genetin – 4th. Both teams have many runners who have qualified to Friday’s meet finals.
Perry Superintendent Dr. John Richard will be recommending Dave Riggs as Perry High School’s new Head Wrestling Coach at the May 25th Board of Education Meeting. Dave has been with the school district as a teacher and coach for over twenty years. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona. His hiring follows the recent resignation of Brent McBurney as the head coach. (more…)

The Perry High School Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Darin Good, was selected to perform at the 8th Annual High School Percussion Ensemble Festival hosted by The Ohio State University School of Music – Percussion Program. The two day festival included performances by 7 other high school percussion ensembles from Ohio and Michigan. (more…)
Both the upperclassmen ensemble Symphonic Choir and the sophomore choir Lyrics qualified in March for State Contest, held April 30 & May 1 at Jackson High School. This year’s Lyrics is the first sophomore group to qualify for States in over a decade and their performance was rated an Excellent in Class C by the four judges. After not qualifying for States last year, Symphonic Choir worked exceptionally hard and took top honors Friday night, earning a Superior rating in Class A!
Breanna Mehringer, Shannon Howley, Connor Watson, Leah Reese and Kaitlyn Krepp were chosen by Pfeiffer Principal Amanda Gardinsky, Superintendent John Richard and DARE Officer Watson to represent Pfeiffer Middle School, Perry Local Schools and the Perry Police Department at the International D.A.R.E.
