Perry Local Schools and the District Autism Team invite you to celebrate Autism Awareness Month with us by wearing blue on April 22nd. We have designed a shirt that draws attention and is sure to ignite conversation and therefore awareness! The t-shirts are royal blue with white print just like the image you see. Shirts are $10 and come in sizes YS-AXXXL. Proceeds will support Team initiatives which target the educational needs and general well-being of students with disabilities. ACT SOON! Community orders must be postmarked by April 3rd in order assure your order is here in time. Orders received after the 8th will be returned. Perry Local Schools will be closed Thursday, February 19th and Friday, February 20th, due to extreme cold temperatures. Parents/Guardians and students involved in PHS extracurricular activities should check district websites and media outlets for the status of extracurricular events on days when schools are closed. All extracurricular activities (practices, games, and after school activities) for Perry’s elementary buildings, Pfeiffer Intermediate School, and Edison Middle School are cancelled for the day when Perry Local Schools are closed. YCare is closed when Perry Local Schools close for the day. Childcare through the YMCA is offered at the Massillon YMCA, Meyers Lake YMCA, and the Navarre Towpath YMCA when schools are closed.
The Perry Local Schools’ Board of Education is seeking qualified and interested candidates to fill a vacant Board seat. The appointed member will serve on the Board through December 31, 2015. Those interested must submit a letter of interest and a summary of qualifications to:

Dear Parents & Students:
Governor Kasich signed House Bill 36 on Wednesday, April 13, which increases the number of calamity (snow) days for this year from three to five. We have used a total of six calamity days this year, so we have one day that must be made up. Our goal is to make up this remaining day in a way that supports our students’ academic achievement with the least amount of impact on your family’s plans and schedules. Watson Elementary School became “Change Bandits” for the seventh year as part of 98.1 WKDD’s Have a Heart, Do Your Part Radiothon to benefit Akron Children’s Hospital. Watson students donated their piggy bank money, loose change and even some birthday money to help the kids in need. The whole school became miracle makers as each classroom tried to raise the most money. Mrs. Rochford’s Kindergarten class holds the title this year with $830 being donated by the twenty-three Kindergarteners. (more…)
Swim lessons and open swim will be cancelled for Saturday, March 12th. Swim lessons will be rescheduled for April 23rd.
Perry High School Junior Zack “Attack” Dailey is the 140 pound Ohio State Wrestling Champion. Zack was also recently announced as the Repository athlete of the week. His key to success, “hard work”. Whether it is the off-season, pre-season, regular season or the post-season, Zack attributes hard work with success. As for winning the State Championship, Zack stated it was “pretty awesome. I pinned two, won by three and then tech falled for the state championship.” (more…)
