The Perry Boys Cross Country team traveled to Boettler Park in Green on Saturday to compete at the Federal League Championship. The team ran a great pack race placing four runners in the top 10 and five in the top 15. The team scored 46 points to edge Lake’s 48 points to become Federal League Champions for the 9th time in school history. They also knocked off defending-champion Jackson who finished with 60 points. Cole Morris and Johnny Stevenson finished 5th and 7th to earn 1st Team All-Federal League. Joey Fedor, Jason Lacourt, and Daniel Cronk finished 9th, 10th, and 15th to earn 2nd Team All-Federal League. Devin Halter finished 23rd to earn Honorable Mention All-Federal pushing Lake’s number five runner back a spot as well. Scott Essig finished 35th for the team as well.
The Girls Cross Country Team finished as Federal League Runner-up on Saturday. Madelyn Bartolone was individual champion earning her the League’s Runner of the Year Award. Lexi Echelberry and Elaine Bast also earned 1st Team Honors. Katie Williams and Andrea Hufstetler earned 2nd Team All-Federal League. Laura Genetin and Hope Price finished 26th and 31st overall. Grace Volpe won the JV race.
The teams will race Saturday at Malone for the District Championship. The top 5 teams and the top 20 individuals qualify to the Regional Championship at Boardman next week.
