Hannah Groff capped off her senior season of cross country this past weekend at National Trail Raceway by finishing 101st in the state overall. She ran a time of 19:48.5. Congratulations to Hannah in becoming the 11th girl in school history to qualify to the State Meet and having a great season!
Hannah Groff finished 14th overall this past weekend at the Regional Championship at Boardman and became the 11th girl in school history to qualify to the State Meet. The top 32 overall qualified and Hannah finished with a time of 19:23.03 to keep her season going. Hannah’s had a great season going all year and will look to continue it at National Trail Raceway for the State Meet. Hannah raced at the State Meet in 2017 when she helped the team qualify. She will race this Saturday at 12:30.
Kyle Woods ran individually for the boys and finished 57th overall to finish off an impressive sophomore campaign. He placed better than his rank coming in and has a lot to look forward to in competing the next two years.
The girls cross country team finished 5th overall out of 11 teams missing out on the 4th place qualification by 18 points. Hannah Groff lead the way finishing 6th overall to qualify to the Regional Championship individually. She was followed in scoring by Natalie Miller (27th), Reilly Kreger (28th), Tori Robbins (29th), and Sheldyn Daugherty (43rd).
The boys team finished 6th and missed the 5th place qualifying standard by 3 points. Kyle Woods lead the way for the team finishing 19th overall to qualifgy to the Regional Championship individually. He was followed in scoring by Justin Zapotoczny (27th), Devin Halter (28th), Brandon Williams (31st), and Alex Hill (40th).
Hannah will race at Boardman this Saturday at 12:30pm and Kyle will race at 3:00pm.
The boys cross country team finished 3rd overall at the Federal League Meet on Saturday just narrowly missing runner-up. The team was lead by Devin Halter’s 5th place finish in which he earned 1st Team All-Federal League. Kyle Woods was next in 11th place earning 2nd Team All-Federal League. Justin Zapotoczny and Brandon Williams finished 18th and 19th overall to earn Honorable Mention. Nick Forchione rounded out the scoring finishing 27th.
The boys JV team also finished 3rd lead by Cooper Reed, James Wayman, Spencer Huntsman, Spencer Wright, and Abe Fleischaker.
The girls team finished 5th overall lead by Hannah Groff’s 5th place finish where she earned 1st Team All-Federal League. Natalie Miller finished 23rd overall earning Honorable Mention. The other scorers for the girls were Reilly Kreger – 28th, Tori Robbins – 31st, and Sheldyn Daugherty 32nd.
The teams race this weekend at GlenOak at the District Championship with a Regional Championship qualifier on the line. The top 4 teams and top 16 individuals move on for the girls and the top 5 teams and top 20 individuals move on for the boys. The girls race at 12:30pm and the boys race at 3:00pm
The boys cross country team finished 7th place out of 27 schools at the Legends Meet on Saturday at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds. The team was lead in scoring by Devin Halter, Kyle Woods, Justin Zapotoczny, Dominic Carosielli, and Alex Hill. The team had many personal bests recorded on the day. In addition to personal bests out of Kyle, Justin, Dominic, and Alex the team also had personal bests run by Cooper Reed, James Wayman, Spencer Huntsman, Austin Hammock, Owen Rair, Liam Morris, Nathan Singo, and Evan Creaturo.
The boys and girls teams will compete Saturday at Jackson Middle School at the Federal League Championships at 9:00am.
