PHS Honors & Cum Laude Informational Meeting – Tuesday, April 12th

Perry High School Principal Jason Conrad will be holding an informational meeting to discuss the new honors and cum laude system to be implemented beginning in the 2016-2017 school year. Parents of any grade level student who will be attending PHS in the 2016-2017 school year are encouraged to attend for conversation and questions regarding this new program. The meeting will be held at Perry High School on Tuesday, April 12th at 7:00 PM.

Edison Girl Scout Troop Hosting Flag Retirement Ceremony

DSCF4925Girl Scout Troop 61039 will hold a flag retirement ceremony on Friday, May 6th from 6p – 8p. The ceremony will take place at Eden Church of the Brethren located at 4437 Richville Dr, Canton. Those who wish to attend are welcome to bring lawn chairs to sit around the fire.  We have prepared over 300 flags for retirement as our Silver Award. The Silver Award is the highest honor Cadette Girl Scouts can earn.


Scholastic Art Winner at the National Level

sierracameraThe Alliance for Young Artists & Writers recently announced the 2016 Scholastic Art & Writing winners at the National level.  National medalists represent less than 1% of the 2016 submissions.  This year there were 320,000 works submitted and only 2,400 medals were awarded at the national level.  Congratulations to Sierra Searfoss, Edison’s 8th-grade student who earned a national silver medal for her sculpture titled, Chinatown Polaroid.  Kennedy Thomas, who is currently a freshman at the high school, also won a national silver medal for her painting, Annabelle Joy, that she created in Art II last spring.  Since 1923, teenagers from across the country have received these awards and are now among (more…)

2016 Summer Physical Education Registration

cache-94-02-9402e70622f4ce4fa44fef3a5f6dcdfaRegistration for 2016 Summer Physical Education for current 7th and 8th-grade students will open on Monday, April 18th. 2016 Summer PE will be June 6 – 17 from 7:00 AM – 12:30 PM each day. Click here for a registration form and more information. Completed forms, with payment, should be turned into Edison’s main office by the end of the day on Friday, May 20th. The cost for Summer PE is $160.  All fees must be paid in full before the first day of  Summer PE. Students with outstanding fees will not be permitted to take Summer PE until all fees are paid in full. Checks can be made payable to Perry Local Schools. No tuition fees will be returned after the first day of class.

3rd Grading Period Honor Roll & Merit Roll

honor_rollEdison Middle School is proud to announce students qualifying for the third-quarter honor roll and merit roll. To be listed on the honor roll, a student must have a 3.5 – 4.00 grade-point average. To be listed on the merit roll, a student must have a 3.00 – 3.49 grade-point average. Congratulations to all students who earned this academic recognition.

8th Grade Washington DC Trip Information

logo_transStudents attending the trip received Emergency Medical Forms and specific trip information at a student meeting on March 30th.  Emergency Medical Forms and Physician’s Orders for Prescribed Medication are due in the office no later than Monday, April 25th. February Students of Character

Teachers from each community select two to three students who have demonstrated outstanding character traits each month. Chosen students are recognized as role models in our school. Their picture and award are posted on a hall bulletin board, and they are given a window sign to be displayed at home that shows they (more…)

7th Grade Math Team Competes at County Math Tournament

Congratulations to our 7th grade Math Team!  They competed Saturday, March 5, in the Stark County Math Tournament and had nine team members place.  In Mental Computation, Meagan Monter took sixth place, and Ethan McGill took seventh place.  In Algebra/Data Analysis/Probability, Amirah Mitchell placed eighth.  In the Number Sense category, Kylee Everetts took sixth place.  In Geometry/Measurement, Nathan Long won fifth place.  In the Team Problem Solving category, Perry won third place.  The team was comprised of Alec Ousley, Mercia Ehmer, and Ashley Cosgrave.  And finally, Nathaniel Miller took home a first place trophy in the Advanced Algebra category.
