Tomorrow, February 1, 2018, our Perry Community is Coming Together at the Canton Baptist Temple, located at 515 Whipple Ave., NW from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., Cleveland Clinic’s Dr. Ellen Rome, MD, MPH, will be discussing Adolescent Mental Health, followed by Stark Family Court’s Assistant Court Administrator Jacob Morgan discussing How to Keep Your Kids Safe Online. At 7:30 p.m., attendees will have the opportunity to visit many community resource tables and receive information and engage in conversation. This event is sponsored by the Perry Township Police Department, Fire Department, Churches and Board of Trustees, Perry Rotary and Perry Local School District.

Congratulations to Mrs. Karen Martin, Edison Middle School Band Director, and Mr. Ryan Smith, PHS Band Director, for being awarded membership into the Ohio Chapter of Phi Beta Mu, an international bandmasters fraternity that honors outstanding band directors. Mrs. Martin and Mr. Smith were nominated by individuals from the University of Akron who recognized their dedication and development of better musicians and appreciation for music in schools. (more…)
Attention parents and adults in the Perry community: a special program titled “Hidden in Plain Sight” will be offered on January 30, 2018, at 6 p.m. to raise awareness about drug and alcohol abuse in teenage students. The program, which will be held at Pfeiffer Intermediate School, will give audience members 30 minutes to “snoop and search” a unique display of an interactive teenager’s bedroom with over 150 items that may be indicative of dangerous behaviors. Thirty-five 7th and 8th-grade students participated in the Edison Middle School Geography Bee on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. After a preliminary round, 10 finalists were chosen to compete in the final round: Tyler Shanower, Katherine McCabe, Julius Fricke, Grace Brown, Morgan Jones, Thomas Mayo, Jude Warstler, Austin Hammock, Zachary Essinger, and Steven Wright.
PHS, Edison, and Pfeiffer students planning to participate in the College Credit Plus (CCP) program for the 2018-2019 school year should review the important dates and points in the linked document below.
