March 2018 Character Award Winners

Teachers from each community select two to three students who have demonstrated outstanding character traits each month. Chosen students are recognized as role models in our school. Their pictures and awards are posted on a hall bulletin board, and they are given a window sign to be displayed at home that shows they were selected as a Character Award winner.   Click here to see why each student was selected this month. Perry Chess Club

IMG_7014The Perry Chess Club held its own tournament for the various school buildings. Edison’s 8th grader, Anthony Ceccanese, won the Edison division of the chess tournament. Coming in 2nd place was 7th grader, Jesse Warner,  and 3rd place was 6th grader, Tyler Fahrni.  Congratulations to all!

Perry Hat Day – Friday, March 23, 2018

March 23rd is Hat Day, for $1 you can wear your hat ALL DAY LONG! This is a friendly competition between schools in our district to see which school can raise the most money. All money raised is split three ways:  the school that raises the most money will get to choose a non-profit organization where a third of the money will be sent, a third goes to Business Professionals of America (BPA–Co-sponsors this event) and another third goes to Perry Athletic Hall of Fame (Co-sponsors of this event).  Show your support by wearing your favorite hat on March 23rd!

Notice of Change in Payment to Perry Local Schools

Due to an instituted change by Perry’s banking partner, effective immediately all checks for school activities, clubs, etc should be made out to Perry Local Schools. The memo line can be used to distinguish the specific activity, club, etc for which the check was written for.

Edison’s Power of the Pen Team Compete in Write It! Competition

PowerofthePen2018A huge congratulations go out to the members of the Edison Power of the Pen team who traveled to Mt. Union on Saturday, February 24, 2018, to compete in the Write It! Competition. Power of the Pen is an organization that emphasizes creative writing as a means of self-expression.  Students involved participate in five weeks of mini-lessons and writing sessions.  (more…)

Edison Middle School Lockdown Updates

Update: 12:20pm – The lockdown had been lifted at the Edison Middle School. All students and staff are safe and all is well.  A note was found on a bathroom stall that caused concern. As a precautionary measure, the police were notified, the school was inspected, and they have determined all is well.Again, the lockdown has been lifted at Edison Middle School. All are safe and all is well.Thank you to the Perry Township Police and our community members who partner with us to keep our students safe.
Update 12:12 pm – Edison is no longer on lockdown.
Original Statement 12:07 pm – The Perry Local School District is investigating a written message that has caused concern and as a precautionary measure we are placing Edison Middle School into temporary lockdown. All students are presently well and no situation has occurred. This is simply a precautionary measure. We will keep you regularly updated regarding this situation. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe.
