Final Opportunity Day-8th Grade Cedar Point Information

Image result for cedar point8th-grade students are given the chance to visit Cedar Point for the 4th 9-weeks Opportunity Day (May 31st). Students must meet all requirements listed on the permission form and the cost of the trip is $75. Payments will be accepted from April 10th – April 28th and are non-refundable. Students cannot be guaranteed a spot on the trip after April 28th. See the attached permission form for details. (Note – eligibility requirements begin on April 3rd).

Flag Line Tryout Information

Are you interested in joining the award winning Perry High School Marching Band but don’t play an instrument?  Then consider trying out for our flag line!  The Perry Marching Band regularly performs around the state of Ohio, and this year will be performing in Disney World.  Stop by and talk to members of the color guard on Opportunity Day at Edison.  An informational meeting and practice for tryouts will begin on April 3rd in room 119 at PHS.  Practices will take place on April 3, 4, and 5.  Tryouts will be on April 12th.  No experience necessary!  If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Rak:  Hollie.Rak@perrylocal.org

 

Hat Day Scheduled for Friday, March 24, 2017!

Image result for Hat DayAre you ready for Perry’s annual Hat Day? On Friday, March 24th, for only $1 you can wear your hat all day. This is a friendly competition district wide, to raise the most money. The school that raises the most money will be recognized and have a part in choosing where a third of the money goes. This event is sponsored by PHS Business Professionals of America (BPA) and Perry Athletic Hall of Fame.

Edison Yearbook Order Information

Edison will be accepting orders for yearbooks from March 13 – 24. Yearbooks are 88-pages, full color, and hardcover. The cost of the book is $30 cash or check made payable to Edison Middle School.  Order forms are attached or can be picked up in the Edison information center.  Please note that books are being sold on a pre-order basis this year.  There is no guarantee of extra copies available after the sale.  Books will be delivered to students in homeroom during the last week of May.

Edison Student Council

7th grade student councilEdison Middle School recently elected 7th-grade representatives to student council.  For two weeks in January, interested students campaigned; posters were displayed, flyers were distributed, and speeches were written.  All students listened to the candidates’ speeches in their social studies classes.  Then, on election day, eight students were elected by their peers. Congratulations go out to the following students: Timara Berry, Kassidea Briggs, Jordyn Finnicum, Aliyah Hayes, Lauren Hollinger, Brooke Kirkbride, Maxwell Lord-Fry, and Owen Tanzilli.  These eight students join Edison’s 8th-grade representatives who were elected at the end of last school year.

7th Grade Math Team Rocks the Stark County Math Tournament

math teamCongratulations to the 7th grade Math Team who competed in the Stark County Math Tournament on Saturday, March 4, 2017. The team worked hard with many after school practices and we are so proud of their accomplishments. Edison took home many awards with 11 team members placing. Internet Safety for Parents Program – Wednesday, March 8th @ 6:30 PM

Sauder Elementary and Lake Cable Elementary of Jackson Local Schools will be hosting the Internet Safety for Parents Program on Wednesday, March 8th from 6:30p – 8:30p. The program is free to attend and open to all. The program will take place at the Jackson High School Center for Performing Arts (map). Questions can be directed to Laura Henson (lspcwh@gmail.com). February Spotlight on Character

Teachers from each community select two to three students who have demonstrated outstanding character traits each month. Chosen students are recognized as role models in our school. Their picture and award are posted on a hall bulletin board, and they are given a window sign to be displayed at home that shows they (more…)
