Latest News for Edison Middle School
The following is a reminder of the upcoming 7th and 8th grade band after school rehearsals and performances for the Winter Concert on Thursday, February 27. All after school rehearsals are in the Edison band room from 3:00pm – 4:00pm. All rehearsals and performances are required as part of your band grade.
7th Grade Band After School Rehearsals: Tuesday, February 18th and Tuesday, February 25th
8th Grade Band After School Rehearsals: Wednesday, February 19th and Wednesday, February 26th
The Winter Concert is scheduled to be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 27th in the Edison Middle School gymnasium.
Winners were recently announced in the 60th annual Scholastic Art Competition which is the largest and most prestigious art contest of the year. Students who earned the Silver Key Award will be honored at a ceremony at Kent State Stark. Their work will be on display through February 5th.

The students were selected out of 778 individual nominations from across the state of Ohio. The Honor Band Festival features four bands that will rehearse and perform with the festival guest conductor as well as faculty from The Ohio State University. Both eighth grade honor bands will perform a world premiere of a brand new composition by conductor/composer James Swearingen.

Congratulations to the Power of the Pen team members who competed at Mt. Union College on Thursday, January 9. Our writers faced three forty-minute writing rounds, each based on different cold prompts. Their overall scores were extremely impressive with many students ranking first or second in their respective writing rooms.
Overall placers were, Abby Steagall taking 9th place in the seventh grade competition and Kasey Pukys earning 3rd place out of all eighth grade writers!

Homework Assist Club for this afternoon (Thursday , January 16th) is cancelled.
On Thursday, January 23rd PHS will be hosting Orientation night for current 8th grade students and parents at 6:00 PM. This meeting will provide information and answer your questions concerning 9th grade high school courses, options that will be available at Perry High school, and the registration process. The meeting will take place in the PHS cafeteria.
All 8th grade students who attend will receive registration booklets and schedule cards that evening. Students who do not attend will receive registration materials in homeroom on Monday, January 27th.
