2014 Northeast Central Ohio Scholastic Art Competition Winners

002Winners were recently announced in the 60th annual Scholastic Art Competition which is the largest and most prestigious art contest of the year. Students who earned the Silver Key Award will be honored at a ceremony at Kent State Stark. Their work will be on display through February 5th.

Edison Students Selected for OSU Honor Band

OSU Honors BandCongratulations to the following Edison band students who have been accepted to perform in The Ohio State University Honor Band Festival on Saturday, February 15.

Grade 7: Elizabeth Sailor  Grade 8: Nicole Manwaring and Collin Goff

The students were selected out of 778 individual nominations from across the state of Ohio. The Honor Band Festival features four bands that will rehearse and perform with the festival guest conductor as well as faculty from The Ohio State University.  Both eighth grade honor bands will perform a world premiere of a brand new composition by conductor/composer James Swearingen.

Congratulations students!  You make Perry very proud!

Power of the Pen Competes at Mount Union

imageCongratulations to the Power of the Pen team members who competed at Mt. Union College on Thursday, January 9. Our writers faced three forty-minute writing rounds, each based on different cold prompts. Their overall scores were extremely impressive with many students ranking first or second in their respective writing rooms.
Overall placers were, Abby Steagall taking 9th place in the seventh grade competition and Kasey Pukys earning 3rd place out of all eighth grade writers!

9th Grade Orientation (Current 8th Graders) – January 23rd

On Thursday, January 23rd   PHS will be hosting Orientation night for current 8th grade students and parents at 6:00 PM.   This meeting will provide information and answer your questions concerning 9th grade high school courses, options that will be available at Perry High school, and the registration process. The meeting will take place in the PHS cafeteria.

All 8th grade students who attend will receive registration booklets and schedule cards that evening.  Students who do not attend will receive registration materials in homeroom on Monday, January 27th.

Perry Township Celebration Dinner

Christmas Links Update

paperchainEdison students raised over $1200.00 with our Christmas Links Giving Project.  We are so proud of the kindness our students demonstrated to others during the holiday season. Congratulations to Mr. Sexton’s homeroom for raising the most money!

Blood Drive – Thursday, January 9th (Critical Need)

lifeshareEdison Middle School is sponsoring a blood drive. The current blood supply is critically low due to the recent severe weather. If you would kindly help by donating not only will you help save lives in this time of need, our school will also receive a fundraising grant.  The Blood Drive will be open at Edison from 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM on Thursday, January 9th.
