Spooky Fun Held at Genoa’s Math and Literacy Night

IMG_2505On Wednesday, October 23rd, Genoa Elementary held their annual fall math and literacy night, “Booooooooks Are Fun.”  Students and their families arrived in costume ready to learn and have some spooky fun!   Families interacted together, engaging in various math and reading activities, to promote and encourage learning together.  Students created Halloween trading cards; tasted, compared, and described varieties of apples; used estimation to guess candy corn quantities; scoured the building on a Halloween Riddle Scavenger Hunt; to name a few of the activities designed to delight members of the whole family.  The highlight of the evening was “Stories Behind the Curtain” where students were entranced, listening to spooky tales spun by kindergarten teacher, Nicole Netzly on our “haunted” gym stage, magically transformed thanks to our PAGE parents.  Fun was had by all, and we look forward to our next event in the spring.
