The Kindergarten classes at Lohr Elementary visited Kingsway Pumpkin Patch. It was a beautiful day and the Lohr students had a great time learning and playing. Students went on a wagon ride to pick their own pumpkin, visited a petting zoo, and watched a puppet show about the life cycle of a pumpkin. The students also enjoyed a picnic lunch. How do you know how old a tree is? What adaptations does a fox go through in the different seasons? How are seeds and pollen spread? What would I see if I were a bug or mole? These were all questions that students were able to answer after a day with COSI. On Wednesday, September 25th, thirty volunteers joined the Lohr students in a fun-filled day of science exploration through the Center of Science and Industry (COSI). The children began the day with an all school assembly to discuss the topic of ecology. They learned about different habitats and animal adaptations within ecosystems. Later in the day, each grade level was given the time tor hands on exploration in ten ecology-based stations. A HUGE thank you goes out to all the volunteers that helped with the science stations and the PTO for their monetary and physical support of the COSI program.
