BROKEN CRAYON DRIVE

brokencrayonsLohr Elementary is collecting any and all broken crayons!

Girl Scout Troop 60179 out of Genoa Elementary is going for Bronze this year. It is the highest award one can achieve as a junior level scout. Working in conjunction with Malone and specifically, their Council for Exceptional Children chapter, the troop will hold a booth in the annual children’s carnival over Perry’s spring break. The carnival is open to all children with special needs and their siblings. Troop 60179’s booth at the carnival will be an interactive “coloring” station and each child will leave with a package of shaped (lightning bolts, dollar signs, hearts, etc) crayons they will make using the recycled broken crayons collected. Thank you in advance for all your support as we enter our Bronze service journey. Please be sure to collect all your broken crayons and donate them to a great cause!

There will be a bucket in the Lohr lobby starting Wednesday, December 18th through February 28th. Please help us!

Grandparents Day Scheduled for December 10th

Happy-My-Grandparents-DayOn December 10th, all grandparents are cordially invited to join their grandchild for the viewing of Lohr’s Christmas Musical, A Dicken’s of a Christmas, and a cookie reception in the classroom.  These morning festivities are for Grandparents and their grandchildren to enjoy.  An evening performance of A Dicken’s of a Christmas for parents and family members will follow at 7pm.

This year for Grandparents Day you may choose between two options:

1. Grandparents may attend the 9:30AM Christmas program featuring our 3rd and 4th grade students AND attend the classroom visitation (cookie reception) immediately following.  Due to limited space in the gymnasium, KDG, 1st and 2nd grade students will not be permitted in the program with the grandparents. They have a separate showing for all students.

2. Grandparents may attend the classroom visitation (cookie reception) ONLY which begins at 10:15.

Due to the limited parking on school grounds, we encourage grandparents to use the transportation shuttle we will be offering from Richville Church parking lot to Lohr Elementary’s front doors.  This is open to all grandparents that are able to ride school transportation.  This shuttle will begin at 8:55 and run until the conclusion of the Grandparents Day program (11:00AM).

Richville Church is located at 6125 Richville Dr. SW (Intersection of Richville and Faircrest – map).

Lohr Students Make a Difference

lohrmakeadifferenceDuring the week of November 18-22 Lohr Elementary partnered with the Make-A-Wish organization as part of Make a Difference Week. Make-A-Wish works to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions as a means of enriching the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Throughout the week students helped by purchasing a Make-A-Wish STAR for $1.00 which was displayed in the school with their name on it. Many also donated a new toy or game for the Make-A-Wish toy closet. We collected a total of $260.42! Thank you for making a difference!

Perry Levy Renewed!

ThanksThe Perry Local School District would like to thank the Perry Township Voters for their faith in the mission and vision of Perry Local Schools.  Tuesday, November 5th, voters turned out to renew the Perry Local Schools levy.  Superintendent Marty Bowe says ”  We want to assure you that we will continue to be as frugal as possible with your tax dollars, while still providing our Perry kids the first class education they deserve.  Your support of our schools is what makes it possible to prepare our next generation for success, and to move the entire Perry community forward. Thank you!”
