Latest News for Perry Local Schools
Pfeiffer sixth grader, Jaret Hughes, won the school Geography Bee this year and has now qualified for the State Geography Bee to be held at Ohio State University in Mansfield on April 9! The competition is run by the National Geographic Society and is being sponsored this year in Ohio by Google and Plum Creek. The top 100 qualifiers in each state are invited to compete at the state level. The Ohio state winner will receive $100, the “National Geographic Collegiate Atlas of the World” and a trip to Washington, D.C. where they would represent Ohio at the National Bee.
Starting Sunday, March 13th through April 25th, young Perry artists will have their works on display at the Massillon Museum. Students from Knapp, Reedurban, and Edison are included. Museum hours are 9:30am-5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, 2:00-5:00pm Sunday, and admission is free.
The PHS College Medical Tech Prep program excelled in competition in two divisions of Health Science at the Tech Prep Showcase competition at Cuyahoga Community College. The team of Amanda Haines, Ryan Paige, and Richard Presutti placed second in their division. The team of Katelyn Shelt, Beckah Phillips, Samantha Holshu, and Rebecca Shears placed first in their division, receiving the highest score of all 100 entries in various categories. Perry is proud of these excellent students and their accomplishments.

The Perry High School Mock Trial team competed at the Ohio Regional Competition on Friday in Akron. In the first trial, the team of Amanda Henderson, Stefanie McArthur, Howie Schilling, and Matt Talbot defeated North Canton Hoover. Winning Best lawyer award was Amanda Henderson and best witness award was Howie Schilling. In the second trial the team of Savannah Fox, Matt Meeks, Howie Schilling and Matt Talbot lost to Arch Bishop Hoban High School on a tiebreaker by one Point.
