Nicole has qualified to play in the State Girl’s Golf Tournament this weekend in Columbus. Nicole earned the right to go the state championships by becoming the first to qualify from the district tournament by shooting a 76. This is Nicole’s 4th year to compete in the state tournament GOOD LUCK NICOLE!

The boys cross country team finished third at the Federal League Championship Saturday at Boardman. Aaron White lead the way with his 4th place finish to earn 1st Team All-Federal League Honors. Chase Daniels and Matt Thiessen both earned 2nd Team All-Federal League and Aaron Dunn earned Honorable Mention. Mike McBurney rounded out the scoring. The team will compete at Malone Saturday for the District Championship with the top 5 teams and top 20 individuals advancing to the Regional Championship.
The girls cross country team placed third at the Federal League Championship meet at Boardman on Saturday. Stacy Cameron lead the team with a 6th place finish. She was followed closely by Jackie Genetin’s 13th place finish. Tara Rodgers, Hailey Floom and Becca Backus completed scoring for the varsity races.

Perry is proud to announce that Matt Meeks has been selected as the Canton Repository’s Teen of the Month for October. Matt’s accomplishments and honors surpassed a “talk-off” between the Hoover Teen Board Rep and Perry’s Teen Board Rep, Aarika LaDow. Look for Matt’s picture and accomplishments in the newspaper, at the end of this month.
The Perry High School Guidance Department is pleased to announce that the College Board AP Committee has recognized sixteen Perry High School students. The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program offers students the opportunity to take challenging college-level courses while still in high school, and to receive college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams. -Finished 4th at the Boardman Spartan Invitational–there were 45 teams that competed—Largest middle school race in Northeast Ohio with great competition. Highest finish ever at this race.

Out of the thousands of students in the state of Ohio who submitted recorded auditions to the Ohio Music Education Association, under 100 were chosen. PHS is happy to announce that two students will represent Perry High School by joining the very best student musicians in the state of Ohio. Matt Lunsford, a junior trumpeter, and Claire Kendig, a sophomore percussionist, are both members of the Perry Symphonic Winds and Perry Panther Marching Band and will travel to perform in Cincinnati on January 29th.
Music classes at Reedurban and T.C. Knapp are starting the year with an extra dose of excitement. Thanks to funding by the respective parent organizations, the students walked in to see classroom guitars hanging on the music room wall. “Whoa!” “Awesome!” “Are WE going to play THOSE?” was heard from students all week long as they came to music for the first time.
