Matt Meeks – Coca-Cola Scholarship Semifinalist

Congratulations to Senior, Matthew Meeks.  Matt has been named a semifinalist for the 2011 Class of the Coca-Cola Scholars Program.  With the 2011 class, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation will have provided more than 4,700 young scholars nationwide with over $44 million in scholarships.

7th Grade Band to perform at The Ohio Band Directors Conference

The Pfeiffer Middle School 7th Grade Band has been selected to perform at The Ohio Band Directors Conference held at The University of Akron on Friday, December 3, 2010. The 7th Grade Band is the only middle school band in the state of Ohio to be selected for this honor. The group will be performing at 6:30pm in The University of Akron, Student Union, Ballroom A. Congratulations 7th Grade Band!

Perry Boys and Girls Swimming and Diving

Perry Boys and Girls Swimming and Diving competed at Warren Harding Monday evening against Warren Harding High School and Lorain High School.  Tyler Bargerhuff performed a personal best on the diving board with 135.7 points and a first place finish.  Kyle Riordan finished first in the 500 yard freestyle and set a new pool record at Harding with a 5:01.29.  The boys are now 1-1. Youth Basketball for Boys

Games and practices will be weeknights at our community’s schools.  Saturday games or practices are doubtful.  We will try to keep each team to certain nights of the week and minimize travel. We will have a district-wide “skills camp” on Saturday, December 4, 11, and 18 at the Pfeiffer gym.  (Second through fourth grade from 4-5 p.m.; fifth and sixth grade from 5-6 p.m.) Games will be from January to mid-March.

Perry High School Senior, Jaime Weinfeld, received highest recognitions at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Blue Lake, Michigan, this summer.
Her first recognition was for a charcoal drawing selected out of over 500 pieces of artwork. Jaime’s charcoal drawing received the “Art Acquisition Award,” a $500 scholarship awarded to only one camper per session. (more…)

Good Luck Stacy Cameron

Stacy is Perry’s only Cross Country runner going to the state meet this weekend. She will be running at 2:50pm this Saturday.

This is also her first year to qualify.  Best of luck!

UPDATE:  Senior Stacy Cameron concluded her cross country season on Saturday at the State meet in Columbus.  She ran a personal best of 19:15 to place 64th overall.  She was the 4th runner from Stark County to finish.  Congratulation on a great season, Stacy!

Perry’s People of Character Recognized

The 2010 People of Character Recognition Reception was hosted at R.G. Drage Career Technical Center on Thursday, October 21, 2010.  Nine individuals from Perry were recognized for their dedication to the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.
