Student Physical Day

trackAffinity Medical Center will be at Perry High School at 2:20 on June 12, 2015 to perform  physicals for any student that is planning on participating in a sport next year.  If you want to come to physical day, please pick up an athletic packet in the athletic office or the main office.  The forms must be completed and turned into Athletic Office no later than May 29, 2015.  The cost is $10.00 and is due on physical day.  Remember, if you have your physical done on physical day, you will not have to worry about your athletic packet expiring in the middle of a season.

Edison Blood Drive-Wednesday-May 13th-9:30am-1:30pm

If you would kindly help by donating not only will you help save lives, but our school will also receive a fundraising grant.  The Blood Drive will be open at Edison from 9:30am-1:30pm on May 13th. Please be sure to bring a photo ID. Thank you for your help!

Parent/Guardian Orientation for Current 4th Grade Students – May 27th @ 6:30 PM

parentorientationPfeiffer Intermediate School will be holding a parent/guardian orientation for current 4th grade students who will be attending Pfeiffer for the 2015-2016 school year. Orientation will take place on Wednesday, May 27th at 6:30 PM in Pfeiffer’s gymnasium. Information at this meeting is intended for parents/guardians of 2015-2016 Pfeiffer students. We respectfully request that only adults attend.

Pfeiffer Students Meet the Author

Untitled drawingOn April 17th Mrs. Casey’s 5th grade language arts classes had the opportunity to meet Mr. Jin S. Stearns, the author of the book Lost Seoul. The students recently finished reading his book and were excited to meet a real author. The students prepared questions related to his life and about the book he wrote. Parents were also invited to come in to hear the author’s presentation. Mr. Stearns told the students and the parents about his journey from a Korean orphanage to the United States. Both the students and the parents were touched by his moving story. This was a wonderful experience for everyone.

The Perry Local Schools’ Board of Education is seeking qualified and interested candidates to fill a vacant Board seat.  The appointed member will serve on the Board through December 31, 2015.  Those interested must submit a letter of interest and a summary of qualifications to:

Expert Expo – May 7th @ Whipple

giftedexpoOn Thursday, May 7th, Whipple Heights Elementary will be hosting our district’s 1st Annual “Expert Expo!” All 55 of our district’s students participating in the gifted program will come together in Whipple’s gym to display the research projects they have been working on for the past five weeks. The students are very eager to show their amazing work. Everyone is welcome to stop by and check out the Expert Expo on May 7th from 5:30-7:00pm!

Perry Bands in the Round – Thursday, May 7 @ 7 pm

Honor-BandThe 2015 edition of Perry Bands in the Round will take place on Thursday, May 7th at 7:00 PM in the Perry High School gymnasium. Grade level bands in 6th through 8th, the Perry Concert Band, Jazz Band and the Perry Symphonic Winds Band will all perform. Tickets for the event are $6 at the door. Gift baskets will be on display for raffle. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

 

Perry Baseball Hosting Veterans Night – Friday, May 22nd @ 7 PM

VeteransNightPerry varsity baseball will be hosting Veterans Night at 7:00 PM on Friday, May 22nd. PHS Band and Choir State Contest Results

Congratulations to all four of the PHS choirs for outstanding performances–Symphonic, Kinsmen and Treblemakers all earned Superior ratings and Lyrics earned an Excellent. Congratulations to the members of the Perry Symphonic Winds and the Perry High School Concert Band! Both groups earned Superior ratings this weekend at OMEA State Finals! For the first time, Perry has 3 bands that have earned Superior ratings at OMEA State Finals in the same year: Marching Band, Symphonic Winds, and Concert Bands. Go Perry!
