Perry Schools Receive Wi-Fi Grant

perry-extreme-630The Perry Local School District has received a $28,565 grant to improve Wi-Fi access and test scores in its schools.  Extreme Networks, which provides wireless networks for the NFL, in conjunction with the Pro Football Hall of Fame, awarded the grant, Perry Superintendent Marty Bowe said.  Bowe said the district has Extreme Networks equipment and learned about the grant funding, which has been awarded to other locals schools in the past.  The equipment will include 35 Wi-Fi access points that will enable students to gain better access to the Internet ,especially during state testing, Bowe said.  Read more from the Canton Repository article here and from the Pro Football Hall of Fame website here.

No School, January 26, 2015

school closedPerry Local Schools will be closed, Monday, January 26, 2015, due to inclement weather.  Parents/Guardians and students involved in PHS extracurricular activities should check district websites and media outlets for the status of extracurricular events on days when schools are closed.  All extracurricular activities (practices, games, and after school activities) for Perry’s elementary buildings, Pfeiffer Intermediate School, and Edison Middle School are cancelled for the day when Perry Local Schools are closed. Y­Care is closed when Perry Local Schools close for the day. Childcare through the YMCA is offered at the Massillon YMCA, Meyers Lake YMCA, and the Navarre Towpath YMCA when schools are closed.

Perry Preschool Screening Scheduled for March 23rd

preschool_blocksA screening for preschool-age children who are typically developing and are eligible for preschool enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year is scheduled for Monday, March 23rd at T. C. Knapp Elementary. This does not include children enrolling in kindergarten for the 2015-2016 school year. (more…)

Whipple’s Winter Literacy & Art Night a Big Success

IMG_1081On January 22nd we had many of our Whipple Heights families join us for our annual Winter Literacy/Art Night.  Author Dawn Clark headlined this event, The Art of Reading.  Throughout the building students and families engaged in activities focused on literature begin studied within art. PHS Hall of Fame Class of 2015

HoF2015The Perry High School Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held at the McKinley Eagles and catered by Mr. Mikes on January 10, 2015.  Emceed by Perry graduate Dan Belford, inductees Bob DiAntonio, Travis Kovach, Doug Lantz, Jeff Lessig, Jim Luke, Steve Luke, Lauren Cline (Muhlbach), Ron Sense, Zach Slates, Shelly Hinkle (Smart), and the 1969 undefeated football team shared tears, cheers, and plenty of laughter.  Perry pride was on full display as over 200 people celebrated at the most attended Hall of Fame banquet to date. K-6 Cheer Clinic Information

20140316_210931On January 24th, 2015 the Perry High School Cheerleaders will be holding a cheer clinic for kindergartners through 6th grade.  The clinic will be held at Pfeiffer Intermediate School from 10am-3pm.  Each participant will learn one dance, five chants and one cheer.  Click here to download the flyer with all of the information and registration.
