school closedPerry Local Schools will be closed Tuesday, February 24th due to extreme cold temperatures.  Parents/Guardians and students involved in PHS extracurricular activities should check district websites and media outlets for the status of extracurricular events on days when schools are closed.  All extracurricular activities (practices, games, and after school activities) for Perry’s elementary buildings, Pfeiffer Intermediate School, and Edison Middle School are cancelled for the day when Perry Local Schools are closed. Y­Care is closed when Perry Local Schools close for the day. Childcare through the YMCA is offered at the Massillon YMCA, Meyers Lake YMCA, and the Navarre Towpath YMCA when schools are closed.

Matt McLeese Mission Run Chipotle Fundraiser, Feb. 23rd

chipotle fundraiser (1)Come out to Chipotle at Canton Center on Monday, February 23rd to support the Matt McLeese Mission Run.  The attached flyer will need to be shown.  Print it out or show it on your smart phone.  The fundraiser will run from 5 – 8 pm.  50% of all proceeds will be donated to the Matt McLeese Mission Run.

Massillon YMCA Summer Camp @ Genoa Elementary

ymcaThe Massillon YMCA will again be open at Genoa Elementary beginning Monday June 1st through Friday August 14 weekdays from 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM.  Full time and part registrations are accepted.  Campers will enjoy daily swimming at the Perry Natatorium, crafts, physical education, in-house shows and offsite field trips.  There is no registration fee, instead, a $25.00 deposit is required, and a discount will be applied to the final week.  Please contact the Massillon YMCA at 330 837-5116 or on the web at www.WestStarkY.org for more information.   2015 Summer Camp Registration Packet  | 2015 Genoa Summer Camp Flyer

Construction Technologies Class Builds Houses

IMG_7574Construction Technologies teacher, Mr. Dave Jones, is having his students build not one, but two fully functioning houses in the construction technologies workshop.  These houses give the students hands-on experience on how to frame, build a foundation, put in doors, windows, electricity, plumbing and everything else that goes into building a house.  Pictured are junior construction technology students.

March 23rd Delayed Start Canceled

The two hour delayed start, originally scheduled for March 23rd, has been canceled. All of Perry’s buildings will operate on a regular schedule for Monday, March 23rd.

Watson Named Top Donator For Akron Children’s Fundraiser

imageWatson Elementary  raised $5,007.10, the largest participating school donation,  for the kids at Akron Children’s Hospital during the 98.1 WKDD “Have a Heart, Do Your Part” Radiothon. 100% of the money raised goes directly to patient care.  Students and staff at Watson are proud to have donated more than $35,000  over the past 11 years.

Perry Youth Basketball Crowns Champion

DSC_0091The sixth-grade boys played for the Perry Youth Basketball (PYB) championship over the February 7th weekend at the high school.  Team 19 won the championship game on the varsity court by the score of 31-19.  Team members are Trey Barnett, Gage Geier, Hayden Hmeidan, Jackson Huntsman, Spencer Huntsman, Anthony Kirk, Jarred Pettay, and Allen Shoaff.  Their names will be engraved on the PYB Championship trophy that is on permanent display at Pfeiffer.
