Perry Local Schools will be closed, Monday, January 26, 2015, due to inclement weather. Parents/Guardians and students involved in PHS extracurricular activities should check district websites and media outlets for the status of extracurricular events on days when schools are closed. All extracurricular activities (practices, games, and after school activities) for Perry’s elementary buildings, Pfeiffer Intermediate School, and Edison Middle School are cancelled for the day when Perry Local Schools are closed. YCare is closed when Perry Local Schools close for the day. Childcare through the YMCA is offered at the Massillon YMCA, Meyers Lake YMCA, and the Navarre Towpath YMCA when schools are closed.

A screening for preschool-age children who are typically developing and are eligible for preschool enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year is scheduled for Monday, March 23rd at T. C. Knapp Elementary. This does not include children enrolling in kindergarten for the 2015-2016 school year. (more…)
On January 22nd we had many of our Whipple Heights families join us for our annual Winter Literacy/Art Night. Author Dawn Clark headlined this event, The Art of Reading. Throughout the building students and families engaged in activities focused on literature begin studied within art. Check out some of the highlights from this event.

The Perry High School Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held at the McKinley Eagles and catered by Mr. Mikes on January 10, 2015. Emceed by Perry graduate Dan Belford, inductees Bob DiAntonio, Travis Kovach, Doug Lantz, Jeff Lessig, Jim Luke, Steve Luke, Lauren Cline (Muhlbach), Ron Sense, Zach Slates, Shelly Hinkle (Smart), and the 1969 undefeated football team shared tears, cheers, and plenty of laughter. On January 24th, 2015 the Perry High School Cheerleaders will be holding a cheer clinic for kindergartners through 6th grade. The clinic will be held at Pfeiffer Intermediate School from 10am-3pm. On December 19, 2014, 35 7th and 8th grade students participated in the Geography Bee. The students were asked questions in the areas of: U.S. Geography, U.S. Cities, Continents, World Geography, and Physical Geography. Edison Middle School would like to congratulate our Championship Round Participants: Third place finisher Nick Forchione, Runner-up Imani Womack and Champion Kevin Echelberry.
