The recent D.A.R.E. graduation ceremony recognized outstanding Perry students Brynn T., Megan M., Ashton K., Anna G. and Erin W. as the top D.A.R.E. students for the 3rd quarter grading period. The top students were chosen due to the time and effort they put into making these lessons personal and sharing, not only what they learned, but how they are applying it to their lives. What really set these students apart was their ability to convey the D.A.R.E. teachings into their final essay and how D.A.R.E.’s curriculum has impacted their lives. The students in Mrs. Edgein’s class have been working hard on their planet research projects this week! After reading “Discovering Mars”, each student was assigned a planet to research and create a poster about. Students used text features such as captions and photos to present the information on their planet.
Perry Local Schools and the District Autism Team invite you to celebrate Autism Awareness Month with us by wearing blue on April 22nd. We have designed a shirt that draws attention and is sure to ignite conversation and therefore awareness! The t-shirts are royal blue with white print just like the image you see. Shirts are $10 and come in sizes YS-AXXXL. Proceeds will support Team initiatives which target the educational needs and general well-being of students with disabilities. ACT SOON! Community orders must be postmarked by April 3rd in order assure your order is here in time. Orders received after the 8th will be returned. Congratulations to Perry High School Senior Anna Huntsman. On March 18, Anna took first place honors at the Perry Township Rotary Club 4-Way Speech contest. In addition to earning a spot at the Rotary’s regional contest, Anna took home a cash prize. Fast forward to Saturday, March 21, and Anna was on point again–taking second place honors at the Rotary Club’s regional contest and earning another cash award. Way to go, Anna! You make Perry proud.
The Perry Pool will be closed for cleaning beginning March 29th 2015. The pool will reopen April 6th, 2015.

Congratulations to Perry High School’s four choirs going on to States! Kinsmen, Symphonic Choir, Lyrics and Treblemakers gave top performances Friday evening earning Superior ratings. They will advance to States, held at Jackson High School in April. Fantastic job by all our groups!
Congratulations to the Perry Symphonic Winds and the Perry Concert Band for earning superior ratings at OMEA District Contest this past weekend. Both bands received perfect scores of straight ones. Symphonic Winds have now earned perfect scores for 3 consecutive years and this is the 5th year in a row that both bands have qualified for State Contest!
