Volley For the Cure – Tuesday, September 30th

VolleyForTheCurePerry High School’s girls volleyball team will be hosting Volley for the Cure on Tuesday, September 30th  as part of the Perry versus Lake volleyball game.  Events for the evening kick-off at 3:45 PM with a Perry Police versus Perry Firefighters volleyball match. All Proceeds from t-shirt sales, concessions, 50/50 and raffles will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

A complete schedule of the evening’s events is listed below.

3:45pm – Perry Police vs. Perry Firefighters

4:15pm – Edison Teachers vs. PHS Teachers

5:30pm – Freshman & JV Games

6:15pm – Survivors honored on the court

7:00pm – Varsity Game



PHS Marching Band Qualifies for State Contest

BandCongratulations to the Perry High School Marching Band on their qualification for OMEA State Finals for the 4th consecutive year!  The Marching Panthers competed in Cambridge, OH against 16 other high school bands, taking home awards for Best Auxiliary and Best Overall Visual Performance.

Softball Alumni Game Saturday, September 20th

SoftballTwitter_400x400The Perry Softball Alumni Game will be played on September 20, 2014 at noon at Pfeiffer. Who will win this year? Bring two nonperishable food items for the Perry helping Perry food bank and receive a free piece of pizza. We are passing the helmet for donations for The Budd Family.  Proceeds from concessions will also go to the family. Come show your Perry spirit.

PHS Homecoming Dance Information

Screen Shot 2014-09-18 at 9.17.10 AMThe Perry High School homecoming dance will be Saturday, September 27 from 8-11pm in the main gym.  The theme is “Lucky in Love”.  Tickets are on sale Tuesday, September 23 to Friday, September 26 in the cafeteria before school only.  No tickets will be sold at the door.   Tickets are $10 each.  Out of School Dance contracts are required for all non-Perry students and can be downloaded by clicking here or by going to the Perry App and downloading it.  This is  a formal event: No tennis shoes or costumes. Appropriate attire is required.

Dave Riggs – National High School Wrestling Coach of the Year

IMG_1810From his first job at the University of Arizona, to coaching the Perry wrestling team for the last 28 years, Coach Dave Riggs has racked up the accomplishments.  His latest being the most impressive.  Coach David Riggs was named the National High School Wrestling Coach of the Year by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.  After leading the Panthers to their first team title in 2014, Riggs learned of his national award through email.  When he first read it, he was shocked.  Then after letting it sink in, he feels very grateful and honored of the award.  Coach Riggs stats are beyond impressive: 3rd in the State in the last 12 years, 9 times state runner up as a team, 28 individual state champs and 100 state placers, last 19 years as Federal League champs with a record of 142-2.  Congrats to Coach Riggs and the entire Panther Wrestling Program.

PHS Senior Elected President for State FEA

Screen Shot 2014-09-17 at 9.35.28 AMPerry High School Senior, Josh Childs, has been elected as the Future Educators of America (FEA) president for the 2014-2015 school year.  Josh is thrilled to have been elected to this position.  His bio reads:  Josh Childs, President, is a senior at Perry High School. In his spare time, he loves to hit the dance floor and bust a move! His debating skills are superb from four years on the debate team and as a class representative for his school. Josh will be majoring in Middle Childhood Education after graduation.

Edison Art Students Sweep Local Poster Contest

starksoilThis past Spring, Edison art students entered a poster contest sponsored by the Stark Soil and Water Conservation District.  The 2014 theme was “Dig Deeper: Mysteries in the Soil”.  We are proud to report that our students brought home all top three awards!  Their posters were recently (more…)
