6th Grade Travel Team Wins Lake Tournament

image1The Perry 6th Grade Travel Basketball Team recently won the Lake Basketball Tournament  defeating Lake 45-43 in the championship game. Team members include Nate Adkins, Devonte Armstrong, Spencer Huntsman, Andrew Wilson Lamp, Nick Liebler, Jared Pettay, Gabe Price, Jimmy Ritter, Griffen Vinas, Jack Wagner and Noah Willhite.

This talented group of players were crowned Tallmadge League Champions as well.

Massillon YMCA Summer Camp @ Genoa Elementary

ymcaThe Massillon YMCA will again be open at Genoa Elementary beginning Monday June 1st through Friday August 14 weekdays from 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM.  Full time and part registrations are accepted.  Campers will enjoy daily swimming at the Perry Natatorium, crafts, physical education, in-house shows and offsite field trips.  There is no registration fee, instead, a $25.00 deposit is required, and a discount will be applied to the final week.  Please contact the Massillon YMCA at 330 837-5116 or on the web at for more information.   2015 Summer Camp Registration Packet  | 2015 Genoa Summer Camp Flyer

No School February 19th and 20th

school closedPerry Local Schools will be closed Thursday, February 19th and Friday, February 20th, due to extreme cold temperatures.  Parents/Guardians and students involved in PHS extracurricular activities should check district websites and media outlets for the status of extracurricular events on days when schools are closed.  All extracurricular activities (practices, games, and after school activities) for Perry’s elementary buildings, Pfeiffer Intermediate School, and Edison Middle School are cancelled for the day when Perry Local Schools are closed. Y­Care is closed when Perry Local Schools close for the day. Childcare through the YMCA is offered at the Massillon YMCA, Meyers Lake YMCA, and the Navarre Towpath YMCA when schools are closed.

March 23rd Delayed Start Canceled

The two hour delayed start, originally scheduled for March 23rd, has been canceled. All of Perry’s buildings will operate on a regular schedule for Monday, March 23rd.

Pfeiffer Choir to Perform at Canton Charge Game – March 21st

unnamedPfeiffer’s 6th grade choir will perform the pre-game show and the Star Spangled Banner at the Canton Charge game on Saturday, March 21st at 7pm. Tickets to the game can be purchased at a discount price by using the attached form by March 2nd.  All choir members and families must purchase a ticket to be part of this event.  We hope to see you there!

PYB Crowns Champion

DSC_0091The sixth-grade boys played for the Perry Youth Basketball (PYB) championship this weekend at the high school.  Team 19 won the championship game on the varsity court by the score of 31-19.  Team members are Trey Barnett, Gage Geier, Hayden Hmeidan, Jackson Huntsman, Spencer Huntsman, Anthony Kirk, Jarred Pettay, and Allen Shoaff.  Their names will be engraved on the PYB Championship trophy that is on permanent display at Pfeiffer.

Parent / Teacher Conferences – February 10th & 12th


Online registration for February 2015 conferences is now closed.

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday, February 10th and Thursday, February 12th from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM each evening. Students do not have classes on Monday, February 16th.

D.A.R.E. Skate Party – Monday, February 16th

DARE4Join your Perry friends and classmates for a D.A.R.E. sponsored skate party on Monday, February 16th at the North Canton Skate Center from 10 AM – 1 PM.  The cost to participate  is $5.75 which includes skate/roller blade rental. Speed skates are $1.50 extra. Additional activities are laser tag, rock-wall, bumper cars, euro bungee, and 30 new video games. *Pricing for unlimited additional activities is $12 for a two hour pass and $15 for a three hour pass.

Top D.A.R.E. Students Recognized

DSCN0107-300x224The D.A.R.E. graduation ceremony, held on January 21st, recognized outstanding 6th graders Jahari Harris, Caroline Kamerer, and William Hughes II as the top D.A.R.E. students for the 2nd quarter grading period. The top students were chosen due to the time and effort they put into making these lessons personal and sharing, not only what they learned, but how they are applying it to their lives. What really set these students apart was their ability to convey the D.A.R.E. teachings into their final essay and how D.A.R.E.’s curriculum has impacted their lives.  Jahari, Caroline, and William also had excellent class participation and demonstrate good character.  (more…)
