Pat Murray – PHS’s People of Character Award Recipient

Pat Murray (Perry High School) has voluntarily dedicated close to 30 years as Perry Local Schools Adult Booster Club President. In those 30 years, she has helped raise more than a million dollars for both academic and extracurricular activities for the children of Perry. In her tenure, Pat has endured many personal challenges, but not once has she ever wavered in her dedication and commitment. She is a living representation of the Six Pillars of Character, and has served as a role model for all. Witnessing her unselfish giving of time and energy, reminds all what it meant to be an extraordinary citizen.

Cross Country District Championship News

The boys cross country team finished 4th place overall at the District Championship Saturday at Malone University.  By finishing in the top 5, the boys qualified to the Regional Championship Saturday at Boardman.  Aaron White and Chase Daniels lead the team and qualified individually by finishing in the top 20 at 13th and 17th respectively.  Matt Thiessen was next at 25th and Aaron Dunn at 31st along with Mike McBurney at 33rd rounded out the scoring for the Panthers as they were just 2 points shy of rival Jackson for 3rd place.  This marks the 7th straight season the team has qualified to regionals which is a school record.

The Girls Cross Country Team placed 4th at the District Meet at Malone University on Saturday.   Stacy Cameron lead the team with an impressive 8th place finish.  Jackie Genetin placed 19th, while Hailey Floom and Tara Rodgers followed closely in 23rd and 29th place respectively.  Becca Backus rounded out the top 5 scoring places.  After 5 runners, Perry was tied with Green; the overall score came down to tie-breaker.  Kylie Church beat out Green’s 6th runner to help the ladies advance to next week’s Regional competition at Boardman.

Thespians Inducted to Honor Society

Last evening the Perry Dramatic Honorary Organization…. THE PERRY THESPIANS had the privilege of inducting five new members into the Honor Society.  We want to extend our congratulations to our new Thespians: Nick Bailey, John Thompson, Jaime Weinfeld, Cody Silverthorn and Austin Tyler.

Congratulations Thespians:  “Act Well Your Part…..There All The Honor Lies.” When you see these new Thespians in your classes or in the Hallway – be sure to offer them your congratulations.
