On May 29th, our Perry Symphonic Winds earned the highest possible rating, Superior, at the Ohio Music Education Association’s State Band Finals. In order to perform at this prestigious event, the Symphonic Winds earned a perfect score in March, qualifying them for this performance. (more…)

High School Guidance Office Announces AP Scholar Awards

The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program (AP) provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.  About 18 percent of the more than 1/8 million students worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award. Stark County Art Show Success

Congratulations to our Perry artists, Jaime Weinfeld, Justin Woody, Cassie Guiler, Allie Dolan, Amanda Cameron, Amy DeGasperis Caleb Snyder, Matt Meeks, Meredith Mann, and Carrie Cleveland. They each had a strong showing at the Stark County High School Art Show. A special congratulations goes out to Justin Woody(right) for placing second in show and Cassie Guiler for an Honorable Mention. The Stark County Show runs through April 17th at the Canton Museum of Art.  You can also see some fabulous artwork at Perry’s own high school art show, The Palette Room, opening tonight through Sunday, show times are 6 to 7:30 pm as well as 1 to 2:30 on Sunday afternoon.

Symphonic Winds Qualifies for State

On Friday, March 18th, members of the Perry Symphonic Winds performed at the Ohio Music Education Association’s Band and Choir Contest.  The Symphonic Winds performed 3 pieces of literature for a panel of three judges, in addition to performing a piece they had never seen or rehearsed before (sightreading).  (more…)

Choir District Contest Canceled

Choir district contest scheduled for Saturday, March 12 in Warren, Ohio is canceled due to poor weather conditions.  Students in Lyrics, Treblemakers and Symphonic choirs all automatically qualify for State Contest held Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30 at Jackson High School.
