Girls Cross Country Team Takes 2nd Place

The girls cross country team competed as a strong team at the Walsh Jesuit Tomahawk Run over the week.  Leading the way for the varsity team were Jackie Genetin and Hailey Floom; the girls placed  8th and 10th respectively.  Completing the top five were a dynamic trio of freshman that included Taylor Wilson, Syndee Fenn and Carlie Perretta.  Kylie Church and Summer Gillard also ran tough races to round out varsity action.  The team pulled together to earn the runner-up award.  In the JV races, Becca Backus, Kelsey Cobb, Erica Curtin, Sara Keane and Julia Brown took the team to a 4th place finish.  The ladies have the weekend off and will race again on the 24th.

Dryer Fire Causes Evacuation

September 13, 2011: There are a lot of rumors floating already about today’s small fire at the high school. The incident started when a dryer motor in the football laundry room over heated and caught fire. The fire was very small and was contained thanks to custodian Jeff Kochur. A small amount of smoke leaked into the tunnel hallway setting off the alarm as it should have. At NO TIME where any students or faculty in any danger. Our students and staff performed the fire evacuation flawlessly, so please disregard any news headlines that may be out there. – Officer Barrett

Boys Cross Country Take 4th at Walsh Jesuit

The boys cross country team beat 2 state ranked teams and placed a competitive 4th place at the Walsh Jesuit Tomahawk run with another closely packed race on Saturday. Aaron Dunn, 15th, David Kamerer, 18th, Matt Thiessen, 20th, Seth Kurzen, 22nd, and Drew Tormasi, 34th were within 27 seconds of each other. Tristan Williams, 42nd, once again ran a strong race as well. Mitchell Paxton and Zach James placed 2nd and 5th in the JV race which would have placed them in the top 50 of the varsity race.  The team races this week in Pennsylvania at the Slippery Rock Invitational.

Community March Cancelled

Due to the heat advisory, the Perry High School marching band will not lead the community march to the Central Catholic Football field for tonight’s game.  Anyone attending the game tonight should meet at the Central football stadium.  We will not be marching down 13th street.

PHS Open House and Career Tech Orientation – August 18th

Perry High School will host an Open House and Career Tech Orientation on Thursday, August 18th from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Student schedules will be distributed in a brief homeroom followed by an open visitation to the classrooms.

The Career Tech Orientation will take place in the Mattachione Theatre from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
