Perry High School recently received a $2,500 grant from Stark County Mental Health and Addiction Recovery (MHAR) to implement a school resiliency program called Link Crew, which aims to make the transition into high school easier for freshmen by providing the structure for them to receive support and guidance from peers. In support of the program, the non-profit corporation Hayden’s Story: The Hayden Porter Foundation made an additional $3,500 donation to support Link Crew. Hayden’s Story is a foundation that was formed by the family of Hayden Porter, a Perry student who took his own life in January of last year. The mission of Hayden’s Story is to develop solutions and offer support for the prevention of suicide, and the foundation is thereby working closely with Perry High School to implement Link Crew. They hope to eventually bring the same program to other area high schools and to develop scholarship funds for outstanding mentors and counseling resources. (more…)

The Perry Athletic Department is being proactive with this weekend’s away boys basketball game at Jackson. In the past the Perry Athletic Department has sold reserve tickets for our away game at Jackson throughout the week leading up to the game. As we all know, Jackson has had some successful teams and their home games are always a near sell out. The reserve tickets Perry doesn’t sell will be given back to Jackson and they turn around and sell them as first come first serve and usually their fans get them. Our reserve seats at Jackson are directly behind our bench from the baseline to the scorers table. With the game occurring this weekend and the wind chill is expected to be extremely low for most, if not all of the week. We want our fans to know that our ticket office will be selling reserve tickets starting Tuesday January 29th through Thursday January 31st during ticket office times 7:30am – 3:30pm. **If school is closed because of the weather, the ticket office is closed as well.**
