PHS Student Council will sponsor the Neon Night Dance at PHS on Saturday, February 10, 2018, from 7 PM – 10 PM in the main gym for PHS students. Casual dress in neon colors and white will be appropriate with dancing under black lights. Tickets are $5.

Do you know the warning signs of drug and alcohol abuse in teenage students? On January, 30, Pfeiffer Intermediate School will be hosting a special program titled “Hidden in Plain Sight” beginning at 6 p.m. Audience members will be given 30 minutes to “snoop and search” a unique display of an interactive teenager’s bedroom with over 150 items that may be indicative of dangerous behaviors. Tomorrow, February 1, 2018, our Perry Community is Coming Together at the Canton Baptist Temple, located at 515 Whipple Ave., NW from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., Cleveland Clinic’s Dr. Ellen Rome, MD, MPH, will be discussing Adolescent Mental Health, followed by Stark Family Court’s Assistant Court Administrator Jacob Morgan discussing How to Keep Your Kids Safe Online. At 7:30 p.m., attendees will have the opportunity to visit many community resource tables and receive information and engage in conversation. This event is sponsored by the Perry Township Police Department, Fire Department, Churches and Board of Trustees, Perry Rotary and Perry Local School District.

Congratulations to Mrs. Karen Martin, Edison Middle School Band Director, and Mr. Ryan Smith, PHS Band Director, for being awarded membership into the Ohio Chapter of Phi Beta Mu, an international bandmasters fraternity that honors outstanding band directors. The Perry Local School District is beyond heartbroken to report that another student has taken their own life. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the student’s family during this difficult time.
Our students and adults in the community are facing many difficult situations, including depression, alcohol/drug use, family and peer relationship issues, financial struggles and many more.
