College Credit Plus-ways to earn college credit while in grades 7-12

 

January Accuplacer Testing

Students who are not currently in a CCP course or who have not previously completed a CCP course must now have a college readiness score to participate in the College Credit Plus program.  Once the student has a college readiness score, the student may apply to a college or university CCP program.  The student must meet all the college/university requirements for admission and any prerequisite requirements for college courses the student may wish to enroll.

Students must have ONE college readiness score to participate in College Credit Plus the scores are listed below.

ACT English 18

ACT Reading 22

ACT Math 22

Accuplacer Reading 80

Accuplacer Writing  5

Accuplacer Elementary Algebra  108

Please click on the link below to register for the January 23rd or January 25th Accuplacer Test.  Students may take all three tests, or one or two.  Students may sign up for both days.  Each test takes approximately one hour to complete.  Registration for the January Accuplacer will close on January 17th.

Students must report to the PHS cafeteria by 2:30 PM on the day of testing and bring their fully charged laptop and pencil/scratch paper.  The Accuplacer is a free tests.  Students receive the results immediately upon completing the test.  Students may take all three tests, two or one test.  Students may sign up for one test date or both test dates.

December Accuplacer Testing

December 13th and 14th,  2017 ACCUPLACER Testing after school in the PHS cafeteria.

Students are to report to the high school cafeteria with their personal laptop by 2:30 on the day of testing.

Students wishing to take CCP classes at Perry High school during the 2018-2019 school year and have not taken the ACT, SAT, or Accuplacer test and earned at least one college bench mark score are encouraged to take the one of the tests t in December or January.   The Accuplacer test will be administered December 13th and 14th.  There are three Accuplacer tests; Elementary Algebra, English Writing, and Reading.  Students are permitted to take each test two times per calendar year. Registration for the January testing will occur in December .
Students may sign up for both days.  Each test takes approximately one hour to complete.  This is not a timed test, so students may take as much time as they need.  There will also be testing January 23rd and 25th (registration in December).  Students who need to take the Accuplacer test, but do not take it in December or January will be required to go to the Stark State College campus and take the test in the testing center.  Students must register to take the test.

ATTENTION: FEBRUARY DATE ADDED FOR ACCUPLACER TESTING

 

One additional date has been added to accommodate the individuals who had to wait for their Stark State Student ID number.  The test will be offered on Wednesday, February 15th after school in the PHS Library.  Students in grades 6-11 may take the test.  Please arrive immediately to the library after your school day ends.  The registration will close on February 14th at 7:00 AM.

For all students in grades 6-11, the last College Credit Plus informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 10th.  The meeting will take place at Perry Highs school in AV 200 and will start at 6:00 PM.   The presentation will cover all CCP updates, new testing requirements and participants will receive a folder with all forms, timelines, and the 2017-2018 CCP Course Registration/Description Book.

There will also be a College Fair from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Perry High School Cafeteria.  College Representatives from Malone University, Hiram College, Walsh University, Stark State College, Aultman College of Nursing, The Ohio State University and Youngstown State university will be on hand to share information and answer questions.  Students in grades 6-12 are welcome to come to the College Fair.

Attention students who are planning to enroll in college courses ON the college campus;  You and your parent are required to meet with your school counselor prior to meeting with your college academic counselor to enroll in college courses .  You must give your counselor at least a two-week notice when scheduling your meeting.  You will NOT be cleared to enroll in courses at the college campus until you have this meeting and all required paperwork is reviewed and signed.

To apply to Stark State College please click on the CCP Stark State Application link and download and complete all required forms.

Students taking courses at PHS need to submit the FERPA release form, transcript and course enrollment form to the high school counseling office. Students in grades 6-8 will submit all forms to their school counselor.

Students taking courses on the college campus must submit the FERPA release form, transcript, the PHS College Credit Plus Intent and Release form to the counseling office AND meet with his/her counselor by March 23.

The link to the Kent State University application is below.

Students taking courses at PHS need to submit the KSU CCP Permission Authorization Form, the PHS course enrollment form (both sides), transcript and test scores to the counseling office by March 10, 2017.

Students taking courses on the college campus must submit the KSU CCP Permission form, the PHS Intent and Release Form to the counseling office AND meet with his/her counselor by March 23.

Students who are taking French Credit through KSU  must complete the KSU online application (link is above), have taken the ACT or will be taking the ACT in February and take the Kent State Foreign Language Placement Test.  The Foreign Language Placement Test will be administered at Perry High School in the high school library.  Dates to be announced

If the student is not able to attend the testing date, he/she may call the Kent State Stark Campus testing Center to set up a testing time and date at the KSU Stark testing office.

In addition, the student must complete the College Credit Plus Course Selection Form/Intent/Release Form located in the Counseling Office.
