Merry Grinch-mas comes to PHS!

Our annual holiday-themed concert–this year titled “Merry Grinch-mas“–is quickly approaching.  On Monday, December 19 and Tuesday, December 20 at 7:00 p.m., join us for an evening of seasonal music featuring our six choirs, a live pit orchestra, PHS Rockettes, elves, Whos from Who-ville, How the Grinch Stole Christmas read by Louie Mattachione, and even a special guest or two.  Children are our guests on this trip to Who-ville and they’re welcome to come dressed in their pajamas or Grinch-themed apparel; after the concert, we invite all our guests to join us in the cafeteria for a feast of roast beast (aka cookies)!  It’s a fun evening that’s becoming a Perry tradition–so don’t miss out!
There are plenty of tickets available for both nights–I’ve just started accepting orders! I’ve attached an order form, or they’re available at the PHS front desk or in the main office.  You are also welcome to send an order via interdepartmental mail.  Just tell me how many tickets you need and for which night and include $6 per ticket with checks made out to Perry Vocal Music.  Also include a phone number or email address where you can be reached in case I have questions about seating.

Fall Concert

Our fall concert is just a week away! Get your tickets now for an evening of music featuring all our choirs, Kinsmen wearing tights, a new Pipers show and a very special Treblemakers alumni performance. You may download the order form and leave your paid order in Mrs. Polen’s mailbox in the main office, or send it to school with your student. See you on October 25th at 7:00!

Welcome Back!

Welcome to our new freshmen and welcome back to the upperclassmen–we’re looking forward to another successful year! Please check back often for information regarding concerts, ticket sales, fundraisers, contest and all things choral. I’m looking forward to another SUPERIOR year in choir!

Banquet Seating Chart

If you’d like to check out your seats in advance for tomorrow night’s banquet, click the link below and look for your name. Seniors and juniors are seated at lower-numbered tables, while sophomores and freshmen will find their names at higher-numbered tables.  The banquet begins promptly at 6:00 at Executive Events, so don’t be late!

Pre-State Contest Concert

On Monday, April 25, all choirs and bands will perform a Pre-State Contest Concert at PHS in the auxiliary gym. The concert will be at 7:00 p.m. and feature the contest music from Bel Canto, Lyrics, Concert Band, Kinsmen, Treblemakers, Symphonic Choir and Symphonic Winds. There is no charge for this concert, so join us for an evening of stellar music!

State Times Announced

On Friday, April 29, the choirs will travel to Jackson High School for the OMEA State Adjudicated Event. Bus departure and return times are still TBA, but performance times are set. Parents are welcome–and encouraged!–to come hear our choirs sing and there is no charge for admission. Please remember that photography and recording during the performances is strictly prohibited and could result in our disqualification.

Kinsmen:  4:30 p.m.

Bel Canto:  5:50 p.m.

Lyrics:  7:10 p.m.

Treblemakers:  8:30 p.m.

Symphonic:  10:10 p.m.

We anticipate returning to PHS by approximately 11:20 p.m.  Please be waiting for your student at the high school–and please leave the front circle open for our buses. Check back soon for any additional information!

STATE BOUND!

On Saturday, March 12, the Perry Choirs traveled to East Muskingum Local Schools to participate in District Contest. Congratulations to Perry’s Bel Canto Freshmen Girls’ Chorus, Kinsmen, Lyrics, Treblemakers and Symphonic Choir for their Superior ratings and fantastic performances throughout the day! Our pre-State Contest concert will be held on Monday, April 25 in the PHS Auxiliary Gym, and State Contest will be held Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 at Jackson High School, times TBA. Stay tuned for more details–and congratulations again to the PHS Choirs!

Contest season

It’s that time of the year again–contest season! On Saturday, March 12, the PHS choirs will travel to East Muskingum Middle School in New Concord for their annual District Adjudicated Event. Choirs receiving a rating of Superior will advance to State Contest at Jackson High School in April. All choirs will leave PHS on March 12 at 7:15 am–buses will be here by 7:00 am for students to load. We will return home that evening at approximately 6:30 pm–it’s a very long and exhausting day!

Performance times for the respective ensembles are:

Bel Canto: 9:40 am

Kinsmen:  11:35 am

Lyrics:  1:25 pm

Treblemakers:  3:00 pm

Symphonic:  4:00 pm
