The preschool utilizes typically developing peers within each classroom as models of age-appropriate social skills, behavior, and language for our children with special needs. Typical peers receive access to a standards-based early learning curriculum that aligns with Ohio’s Early Learning Content Standards, as well as the benefits of a developmentally appropriate and play-based learning environment. Our program is designed to provide appropriate and exploratory learning experiences, ultimately preparing each child for Kindergarten.
This program is tuition-based. We do not accept or provide government assistance due to the variety of options we offer at varying costs for typical peers. See the current year’s tuition form, under Forms, for a reference to cost. Tuition will not be raised during a school year, but the district reserves the right to raise tuition for the next school year. Enrollment options for typical peers (but not always guaranteed) are attending 5 half-days per week, 3 half-days per week, or 2 half-days per week.
Preschool screening is required for all children being considered for placement as a typical peer. A description of the screening process for typical peers can be found under the Screening section.
It is important to note that after a child is enrolled as a typical peer, the Preschool Team reserves the right to revoke enrollment if the child continually displays behaviors that impede learning or adversely interrupt the dynamics of the classroom. Parents will be notified if concerns arise and the teacher will work with the parents and child to attempt to remediate areas of concern prior to excusing the child from the program.
Children currently enrolled as typical peers will have an opportunity to attend the following year if they are remaining in preschool. Parents will be provided the tuition cost and programming options to review and given an opportunity to request a change to the number of days and/or session their child will attend the following school year.
