The track teams finished up the District Championship Meet at Hoover Friday night. The girls team edged out Hoover by 2 points after winning the 4x400 meter relay in a District Record time of 3:54.61. This is the first District Title in school history. Hailey Floom, Charliee Strickland, Mikayla Dearing, and Hannah Luke won both the 4x200 and 4x400. Danielle Fisher won the Discus and Hannah Luke won the 200 as well. Others who advanced to the Regional Championship by placing in the top 4 included: Mikayla Dearing in the 400, Hannah Luke in the 100, Jackie Genetin in the 800 and both Danielle Fisher and Marissa Knop in the shot put. The team also had scoring performances out of: Meredith Mann, Becca Backus, and Indy Clark.
The boys team put together some good performances to finish 4th overall. Qualifying to regionals for the boys were: Aaron Dunn, David Kamerer, Matt Thiessen, Matt Mizer, and Tyler Weisburn in the 4x800, Matt Thiessen in the 1600, Matt Mizer in the 800, Doug Mayes in both the shot put in discus, JoJo Tayse in the shot put, and Andrew Vincent in the pole vault. Others who scored for the boys were: Tristan Williams, Dustin DiRocco, Josiah Brown, Khyler Fields, Christian Schaffner.
The Regional Championship will be held at Austintown Fitch on Wednesday and Friday for those who qualified.
