Girls Win District Championship, Boys Finish 4th

The track teams finished up the District Championship Meet at Hoover Friday night.  The girls team edged out Hoover by 2 points after winning the 4x400 meter relay in a District Record time of 3:54.61.  This is the first District Title in school history.  Hailey Floom, Charliee Strickland, Mikayla Dearing, and Hannah Luke won both the 4x200 and 4x400.  Danielle Fisher won the Discus and Hannah Luke won the 200 as well.  Others who advanced to the Regional Championship by placing in the top 4 included: Mikayla Dearing in the 400, Hannah Luke in the 100, Jackie Genetin in the 800 and both Danielle Fisher and Marissa Knop in the shot put.  The team also had scoring performances out of: Meredith Mann, Becca Backus, and Indy Clark.

The boys team put together some good performances to finish 4th overall.  Qualifying to regionals for the boys were: Aaron Dunn, David Kamerer, Matt Thiessen, Matt Mizer, and Tyler Weisburn in the 4x800, Matt Thiessen in the 1600, Matt Mizer in the 800, Doug Mayes in both the shot put in discus, JoJo Tayse in the shot put, and Andrew Vincent in the pole vault. Others who scored for the boys were: Tristan Williams, Dustin DiRocco, Josiah Brown, Khyler Fields, Christian Schaffner.

The Regional Championship will be held at Austintown Fitch on Wednesday and Friday for those who qualified.

Pfeiffer 5th & 6th GradeTrack Meet Information

Attention 5th and 6th Grade Pfeiffer Students: You are invited to the 1st Annual Pfeiffer Track and Field Invitational sponsored by the Perry Track Team! Come show off your speed, strength, or jumping ability as you compete against the finest athletes the 5th and 6th grade have to offer. Athletes should report to the Perry Track on Saturday, May 26th at 9:45am.  The Invitational will start promptly at 10:00am.  This event is FREE to all Pfeiffer students thanks to the efforts of the Perry Track and Cross Country staff.  ONLY 5TH and 6TH GRADE PFEIFFER STUDENTS MAY PARTICIPATE.  Families are encouraged to stay and watch the activities from the grandstand.

Girls 2nd, Boys 5th at Federal League Meet

The Girls and Boys Track Teams finished 2nd and 5th respectively at the Federal League Meet on Friday Night at Jackson.  Mikayla Dearing was named outstanding girls athlete with her win in the 400 along with winning the 4x200 and 4x400 relays with Hannah Luke, Hailey Floom, and Charliee Strickland.  The girls set a new school record in the 4x400.  Danielle Fisher won the discus as well.  Others who scored for the girls were: Indy Clark, Marissa Knop, Marissa Briggs, Dena Faiello, Becca Paxton, Casandra Daniels, Mallory Vodopich, Jackie Genetin, Becca Backus, Shelby Logan, Anna Oprisch, and Summer Gillard.

Doug Mayes won the shot for the boys and set a new record again in the discus.  Others who scored for the boys were: JoJo Tayse, Andrew Vincent, Khyler Fields, Tyler Weston, Matt Mizer, Matt Thiessen, David Kamerer, Aaron Dunn, Tyler Weisburn, Tristan Williams, Josiah Brown, Brenton Neira, Dustin DiRocco, Jamie Norris, and Christian Schaffner.

The teams will compete at the District Championship on Wednesday and Friday at Hoover.

Girls 7th, Boys 10th at Jackson Twilight Invitational

The girls team finished 7th and the boys finished 10th at the Jackson Twilight Invitational on Friday.  Scoring for the girls were: Hannah Luke, Charliee Strickland, Hailey Floom, Indy Clark, Jackie Genetin, Meredith Mann, Mallory Vodopich, Danielle Fisher, and Marissa Knop.  Scoring for the boys were: Tristan Williams, David Kamerer, Nick Williams, Matt Thiessen, Danny Williams, Dustin DiRocco, Josiah Brown, Aaron Dunn, Tyler Weisburn, Matt Mizer, Andrew Vincent, and Doug Mayes.

Both Teams Lose to Jackson

Both the boys and girls track teams finished up their dual meets for the year with losses at Jackson.  Winning events for the girls were: Danielle Fisher, Mikayla Dearing, Hannah Luke, Indy Clark, Hailey Floom, Jackie Genetin, Charliee Strickland, and Marissa Briggs.  Winning events for the boys were: Doug Mayes, Khyler Fields, Tyler Weston, Andrew Vincent, Matt Mizer, Nick Williams, Aaron Dunn, and Tristan Williams.

The varsity teams will run at Jackson Friday for the Jackson Twilight Invitational.  The JV teams will take on Massillon at home Thursday.

Both Boys and Girls Teams Finish Runner-Up at Perry 9th & 10th Invite

The boys and girls track teams both finished 2nd overall at the Perry 9th and 10th Grade Invitational.  For the boys, Tristan Williams won all 4 of his events (110m hurdles, 400m, 300m hurdles, and 4x400m relay).  Andrew Vincent won the pole vault.  Others who scored for the boys were: Joe Volpe, Greg Essig, Winston Davis, Eric Oster, Gage Guscoff, Danny Williams, Bradley Mercier, Dustin DiRocco, Mitchell Paxton, Wes Green, Colton Luxenburg, Bryce Williams, and Joe Ehmer.

Charliee Strickland won the 200 and the 400 for the girls and Indy Clark won the 300 meter hurdles.  Others who scored for the girls were: Kylie Church, Trisha Barnett, Carlie Perretta, Kelsey Cobb, Jordan Isla, Autumn Cobb, Cassie Mann, Brandy O’Brien, Cassandra Daniels, Bre Daniels, Megan Smead, Sara Keane, Erica Curtin, Anna Oprisch, and Madeline Lacourt.
