Perry Local Elementary Gifted Expert Expo
It all started back in March when each student participating in our Elementary Gifted Program chose a topic to research for something they’ve always wanted to know more about. Over the next couple of weeks, students brainstormed research questions and then researched online, read nonfiction books, took notes, and made/refined their outlines. Once they had all of their research compiled, they used that information to produce a set of projects that together would serve as their research display. These included: a graph, a career background piece, a map, a labeled diagram, the top ten most interesting facts, and a 3-D element of their choice. Six weeks of hard work culminated in an amazing “Expert Expo” at Whipple Heights Elementary School on May 7, 2015. All fifty-five of Perry Local School’s gifted 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders gathered to showcase their work as family, friends, and community members flooded the gym to learn from these experts.
