PHS Forensic Boosters Accepting Donations for Speech & Debate Tournament

speech&debateOn behalf of Perry Forensic Boosters, our PHS Speech and Debate Tournament will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Perry Local Schools.  This fundraiser assists with expenses related to judging, transportation, meals, banquet, scholarships and items related to the District, State and National Tournaments.  Please note the success of this program, as the PHS Speech and Debate Team is ranked 56th in the nation out of 7,789 member schools of the National Speech and Debate Association, has won 4 State Tournaments and has prepared numerous State and National Qualifiers for the last 20+ consecutive years.  (more…)

Elementary Wrestling Clinic Information

jojoThe Perry Elementary Wrestling Clinic for beginning wrestlers in grades 1-6 will be held November 3rd – 6th, 2014. Registration and weigh-ins will take place on Saturday, October 25th, 2014 in the Perry High School wrestling room from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Late registration will be held on Monday, November 3rd, 2014 before the first clinical practice.

 A registration fee of $20.00 will be required for all participants. This fee will cover all awards, cost of the elementary tournament to be held at the conclusion of the clinic, and a Perry Wrestling t-shirt. Instructors include the Perry wrestling staff and the nationally ranked wrestling team. Click here for the registration form.

COSI on Wheels Visits Watson Elementary

September’s Student of the Month

Congratulations to Skylar Brown for being picked as Student of the Month for September! Skylar had her named pulled after earning numerous tickets for being Ready to Learn while at school. Skylar is currently a first grader in Mrs. Forchione’s room.  In addition to being a positive role model for others at school, Skylar has many interests outside of school. Skylar collects sea shells and enjoys finding them while at Myrtle Beach when she goes there with her family on vacation. Her favorite subject at school is math and her favorite food is ice cream. Skylar has four pets, three kittens and 1 quinea pig. When Skylar grows up she wants to participate in gymnastics.

Perry Players Present Cinderella

CinderllaThe Perry Players, celebrating their 54th season, proudly present the enchanting children’s theatre production of Cinderella on Saturday, October 4th at noon in the PHS Mattachione Theatre.  Tickets will be sold at the door 45 minutes before curtain.  The Perry Theatre Clown Troupe will be around to greet the young guests.  Tickets are $3 each.

#BuddStrong Benefit Dinner & Silent Auction – December 6th

#buddstrong1 (2)The Edison Middle School staff will hold a benefit dinner and silent auction on Saturday, December 6th at the McKinley Eagles for Sharon Budd and her family. Doors will open at 6 PM with dinner being served at 7 PM. Individual tickets (open seating) are $30 each, or you can reserve a table of ten. Family Literacy Tips from A – Z: Thursday, October 16th @ 6 PM

Join us on Thursday, October 16th from 6p – 8p at RG Drage Career Technical Center  for an evening full of great tips on how to enhance literacy skills in your home and beyond. The presenter will focus on ways to support your child’s success in school through a strong parent/teacher partnership. Watson Walk-A-Thon: Friday, October 10th

Walk-a-thon-logo-cutWatson Elementary will hold their inaugural Walk-A-Thon on Friday, October 10th during school hours. Participation is free for students who will walk with their classmates during an assigned time. The Walk-A-Thon will be our main fundraiser for the year. Students will solicit flat rate donations instead of selling items in a traditional merchandise fundraiser. All donations raised will be used to fund our planned events (COSI, Glow Night, Bingo Night, Mother/Son, Father/Daughter, Success Club, 4th Grade Party and gifts, Field Day, and Field Trips to name a few)  for the year.  Pledge sheets and donations are due by Wednesday, October 8th.
