Behavior Party #1

img_3289As part of our behavior reward system, all students have the opportunity to earn admittance to each of our behavior reward parties. These occur every six weeks and vary in theme throughout the school year. Attendance at this first behavior party, which was a mini-field day we adapted indoors because of weather, was just over 92% with 395 of our 427 students qualifying to attend. Check out some of the great pictures which capture all the fun these students had.

Safety Drill

Image result for safety drillThis morning, Perry Police officers joined our staff at Whipple Heights Elementary to conduct our second set of safety drills for the 2016-2017 school year.  This is standard practice in Perry Local designed to ensure all students understand what to do in the event of any type of emergency.  We practiced a breach in security drill, where some teachers locked down and/or barricaded in their classrooms while others exited the building based on the information provided.  Following the drill, classroom teachers talked with their students about the drill and what they did.  So, don’t be surprised when your child comes home tonight talking about this drill or the presence of police officers at their school.  Have a GREAT week!

Whipple Panthers…Get Your Walking Shoes On!

Our 4th annual Walk-a-Thon is coming! This is your chance to have fun with your friends, get fit, and help make this another great year for Whipple Heights.  With everyone’s help, we can make the Whipple Heights Walk-a-Thon a fun time and the ONLY major fundraiser of the year. 100% of the funds students raise will go directly to the school PTO to benefit our students, which include student enrichment activities, technology enhancements, refreshments for Open House and Literacy Nights, games for the indoor recess game cart, field trip transportation, assemblies, and much more.   Information was sent home with your student yesterday!

Honoring Superstar Effort!

principals-showcase-1Great things happen at Whipple Heights Elementary School.  The most recent being the posting of Mr. Hug’s 1st Round Principal Showcase.  The Principal Showcase is a bulletin board (located in the main hallway across from the office) where every four to five weeks teachers submit student work for recognition and display.  Each time the board is changed we recognize these students on our website/social media.  Additionally, when it’s time to change the board students receive a small token from Mr. Hug to reinforce his pride and excitement in their display of hard work.  (more…)
