Latest News for Whipple Elementary
Great things happen at Whipple Heights Elementary School. The most recent being the posting of Mr. Hug’s 3rd Round Principal Showcase just before Thanksgiving Break. The Principal Showcase is a bulletin board (located in the main hallway across from the office) where every four to five weeks teachers submit student work for recognition and display. Each time the board is changed we recognize these students on our website/social media. Additionally, when it’s time to change the board students receive a small token from Mr. Hug to reinforce his pride and excitement in their display of hard work. (more…)
This Thursday (Dec. 1) evening our Perry football team is going back to Columbus to compete for a Division II State Championship. This exciting time presents some challenges as we look to accommodate the interest in supporting our young men, band, cheerleaders and the Perry community. With the game being held on a Thursday night there are additional logistics that make it difficult for everyone traveling. Ensuring everyone’s safety as they head back and forth to Columbus is of the utmost importance. Ultimately, it was decided that Perry Local Schools will be having a 2-hour early release on Thursday, December 1st and Perry Local Schools will not be in session on Friday, December 2nd. It is our hope this allows families to plan accordingly and assists in keeping everyone safe in their travels. Congratulations to all those associated with Perry football and to our community. Enjoy this moment again and let’s not take anything for granted. What an awesome reminder of the many great things happening in Perry Local Schools. Go Panthers!

A HUGE THANK YOU to our Whipple students and families! This year’s 2nd Annual Charity Week was an overwhelming success. Below is a table that shows results for each class. In addition to the donations provided earlier in the week, we were able to collect $2,102.53 for our charity, Perry Helping Perry! This couldn’t have happened without the generosity of our grandparents and families! Our winning class was Mrs. Wackerly’s 3rd grade who will enjoy a Taco Bell party after Thanksgiving Break! (more…)
Our 2nd annual Whipple Heights Charity Week is well underway. We are SO THANKFUL for each and every donation as being able to help struggling families across our community, while at the same time instilling a sense of charity in our students is such a great feeling. All donations are being sent to Perry Helping Perry! Don’t forget tomorrow we are collecting $1.00 donations from Grandparents and Friday we are having our class completion to see which class can raise the most money in donations. Last year between these two days we raised over $1,600.00. Let’s see if we can top that! Go Whipple!!!

On Wednesday, November 9th, 2016 Whipple Heights held its annual Fall Family Night. Over 300 people attended our “Argh you Ready to Read?” pirate themed event. Students got to walk the plank, have a pirate snack, discover their pirate name and partake in many other pirate themed reading and math activities. In addition to all of the activities, each child in attendance received a book to take home with them as a prize for completing the activities with their family. The feedback solicited from parents, via our exit survey, as well as from staff was overwhelmingly positive with comments such as “This was the best one yet!” A HUGE thank you to our Title One teachers for organizing this incredibly fun event and also to our staff volunteers!
Mark your calendars for Monday, November 14th! Please support our school by having dinner at Chipotle on Tuscarawas, or placing an order to go. 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the WHPTO! Last year we raised just over $800.00 through this event. This year we are going for $900.00+! Hope to see you in line.
