Kindergarten: Ready or Not 2014 Program – February 27th

kndreadyornotThe Stark County District Library and the Perry Sippo Branch Library are pleased to announce the Kindergarten: Ready or Not 2014 Program on Thursday, February 27th from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM. Adults and incoming kindergarten students can join principals and school officials for questions, answers, and recommendation of materials. While the adults learn children will be entertained with stories, songs, and crafts. Register online or by phone by calling (330) 477-8482.


Whipple Elementary Celebrates Winter Literacy Night

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThis month the Title One teachers at Whipple planned another successful Literacy Night. Our theme was Cozy Up Around the Fire with a Good Book. Numerous teachers and Perry administers volunteered their time to read winter themed stories and conduct a craft activity with our students. Over 200 people attended this event.

Students were able to choose two different stories and activities. Our WHPTO provided cookies and juice for the families to munch on in between the stories. Stories included The Hat, The Mitten, Snowmen on Ice, There Was a Cold Woman Who Swallowed Some Snow, Snow Dance, Sneezy the Snowman, and The Story of Ferdinand. Crafts ranged from painting (more…)

Whipple Artists Have Work Displayed in Community

december 004The following Whipple students’ artwork was chosen for Akron Children’s Hospital’s permanent collection!  Each child will receive a $25 gift card in return for their works of art that will be on display at the different sites (including the one in Perry) of Children’s Hospital. Their colorful, inspiring art will definitely brighten someone’s day!

Whipple Family Literacy Night – Thursday, January 16th @ 6:00 PM

Family Literacy Night is a great way to spend a cold winter’s night discovering new books and spending time with your student(s).   For this event you will listen to 2 different stories and engage in fun activities as a family. Perry Township Celebration Dinner

There will be a brief presentation about our bicentennial, a buffet dinner, and dance to the music of the band, Timeless. Saturday, January 18, 2014, 6:00—8:30 pm, Exploration Gateway, 5712 12th Street NW, Canton, OH 44708.  Tickets are $25 per person and $50 per couple.  For your convenience, you may purchase tickets online at via PayPal. The Holiday Shop is Coming!

table_background_defaultThe Holiday Shop is coming to Whipple Heights Elementary.  It will be held December 16th-18th from 5:00pm-7:30pm located in the library.  This is a great way for your child to purchase gifts for their loved ones this holiday season.  With prices starting off at just 25 cents, you will be able to find something for everyone.  Cash and checks (made out to Whipple Heights PTO) are accepted.  Hope to see you there!

Preschool Screening for Special Needs Children – January 8th

screeningA screening for preschool children ages 3-5 who have suspected delays is scheduled for Wednesday, January 8th at T. C. Knapp Elementary. If you have concerns that your preschool child may demonstrate significant delays in the areas of speech/language development, motor development, cognitive development, and/or social emotional/behavioral development, please contact Ashley Reinhart, by Monday, January 6th at 330-915-5307 to schedule a screening appointment. Preschool Still Enrolling Typical Peers for 2013-2014

preschool_blocks-300x214Interested in enrolling your child as a typical peer?  Spots are still available for the 2013-2014 school year.  Children must have turned 3 years old before August 1, 2013. Children must demonstrate age-appropriate speech/language skills, play skills, social skills, and behavior to be considered for enrollment. All typical peers must be reliably toilet-trained.
