Whipple Reading Therapy Dog is a National Finalist

jada_whippleMeet Jada, a 10 year old mixed breed dog saved from the shelter as a puppy by Cindy Zutavern.  Jada is now a trained reading therapy dog who has been creating miracles with kindergarteners in Mrs. Logan’s class at Whipple.  Jada was entered in a contest about how reading therapy dogs are helping in classrooms and we have been selected as a national finalist!   (more…)

District Wide Hat Day – Friday, March 27th

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTZtgYTZPgd3n0h66ksd-3pfiQJQaMWLXoEoApZstD3AyfIHEYzDgJoin us on Friday, March 27th for a district wide hat day! All of Perry Local Schools will be participating in Perry’s Hat Day for just $1.00. Students and staff can wear a baseball hat, a beret, a cowboy hat, or any kind of crazy hat! All the money raised will go to the Perry Athletic Hall of Fame. The school that raises the most money will get to choose what non-profit organization the money will go to the following year, along with bragging rights!

 

 

Motion Marbles

IMG_1248Whipple second grade decided to take advantage of the freezing temperatures by creating colored ice marbles to teach their science unit on motion.  The students were asked to determine various ways to set the “marbles” in motion and record their hypotheses.  Each student was then asked to experiment and try out their recorded option of force.  Some of the hypotheses included (more…)

No School Tuesday, February 24th, 2015

school closedPerry Local Schools will be closed Tuesday, February 24th due to extreme cold temperatures.  Parents/Guardians and students involved in PHS extracurricular activities should check district websites and media outlets for the status of extracurricular events on days when schools are closed.  All extracurricular activities (practices, games, and after school activities) for Perry’s elementary buildings, Pfeiffer Intermediate School, and Edison Middle School are cancelled for the day when Perry Local Schools are closed. Y­Care is closed when Perry Local Schools close for the day. Childcare through the YMCA is offered at the Massillon YMCA, Meyers Lake YMCA, and the Navarre Towpath YMCA when schools are closed.

Massillon YMCA Summer Camp @ Genoa Elementary

ymcaThe Massillon YMCA will again be open at Genoa Elementary beginning Monday June 1st through Friday August 14 weekdays from 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM.  Full time and part registrations are accepted.  Campers will enjoy daily swimming at the Perry Natatorium, crafts, physical education, in-house shows and offsite field trips.  There is no registration fee, instead, a $25.00 deposit is required, and a discount will be applied to the final week.  Please contact the Massillon YMCA at 330 837-5116 or on the web at www.WestStarkY.org for more information.   2015 Summer Camp Registration Packet  | 2015 Genoa Summer Camp Flyer
